        Also, sometimes ripe black plantains... Lawd, how I LOVE a ripe black plantain brushed with coconut oil and baked in the oven until golden brown, and sweet, and delicious...

        *sigh*
        Now I want some maduros!

        But I don't have any.
        And if you know anything about plantains, it's that you don't just go to the store and but them ripe/black enough to cook.
        You have to buy them yellow/brown and wait a week.

          if you put 'em in a brown paper bag, you can speed that up. particularly in spring & summer. i, too, am plantain-obsessive. i love 'em green, yellow, or full-on ripe.

            White rice for glucose - and I don't care for fructose. Sweet potatoes are a nutritious compromise. Cooked plaintains are too. Why is anyone still debating this shit?
            F 5 ft 3. HW: 196 lbs. Primal SW (May 2011): 182 lbs (42% BF)... W June '12: 160 lbs (29% BF) (UK size 12, US size 8). GW: ~24% BF - have ditched the scales til I fit into a pair of UK size 10 bootcut jeans. Currently aligning towards 'The Perfect Health Diet' having swapped some fat for potatoes.

              I walked over to my Puerto Rican neighbor's house and begged. Bless her soul! She keeps about a case in various stages of ripeness.

                Haha, that's awesome! I ate somewhere between 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup of raw honey a few weeks ago. It was amazing.

                Anyway, I eat LOADS of carbs. I have probably six to seven servings of fruit per day, as well as white rice, sprouted sourdough bread, yogurt, raw honey and maple syrup. I was doing lots of potatoes and sweet potatoes for a while, but my body seems to not want those as much anymore.
