  • Too much butter?

    Hello,

I am consuming a stick of butter a day in my coffee, usually I will have 1/2 a stick in my coffee in the morning along with 5 eggs scrambled with peppers and onions and 4 slices of bacon, then at lunch I will usually have a big salad of spinach, kale, sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, 1 whole avacado, and some type of meat in it along with another 1/2 of a stick of butter in my coffee. Dinner is usually some type of meat with a sweet potato, some times I will have more coffee with maybe 1/4 a stick. I also have 2-3 protein shakes a day. I train for the sport of olympic weightlifting 4 times a week, It includes heavy squats, clean and jerks, snatches, rows, etc.. since January 1st of this year I've lost about 19kg from eating a primal diet.

So my question is.. am I eating too much butter? lol.. I love it and could probably even eat more, I feel great. I'm never tired or feel sluggish, I'm not gaining any fat, and my lifts are going up. (just hit my first 137kg/300lb jerk the other night) I use Kerrygold Pure Irish Unsalted Butter so I am eating a good quality butter. Thanks

Edit: current body weight is about 87kg

Thats like asking "too much bacon?"

If you're getting the results you want, why would you even ask??

There are no cheat days. There are days when you eat primal and days you don't. As soon as you label a day a cheat day, you're on a diet. Don't be on a diet. ~~ Fernaldo

Exactly and seconded. You might hear some ridicule as to its lack of certain antioxidants and displacement and blah blah blah, but lets face it grass fed butter is a good source of some of the most necessary and least available nutrients around. K2 is a huge deal and Fatty acid profiles are showing more and more to be important. Especially in terms that butter may have constituents of fatty acids that provide antioxidant effect. So have at it....just as much as you might have at a bowl of berries.

Oh, and Kerrygold is a great choice. Grassfed from a country who gives a sh*t. Only thing better might be if you found grassfed from a local Amish farm or some such variety. Otherwise rock on!

100% to both of those answers... anyone who says otherwise is just a hater with their panties in a twist.

Let them eat how they want, and you keep doing it your way if it's working for you.

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.

Oh, That’s absolutely too much butter... I suggest you send all your butter to me to dispose of... Ill happily throw myself on the butter pile if it saves just one person....
