  • Benefits of white tea

Lately I have been drinking lots of green tea as well as chamomile at night. Chamomile has really help with sleep issues at night and the green tea keeps me alert during the day. I also chose green tea bc I wanted to add caffeine back in to my diet in a natural way. I keep seeing all over the web about how great white tea is and how beneficial it is. It also still has a decent caffeine content but slightly less than green. Any tea drinkers out there? Info and suggestions would be awesome! Thanks and grok on!

May I refer you to my latest thread on tea to see what other people have been saying about the stuff:

I drink a lot of all types of tea, and I have to say, it's pretty amazing stuff! Keep in mind that white tea may actually have MORE caffeine than most teas. I've been reading that caffeine protects the young leaves from being eaten by insects and small mammals, so the young leaves tend to collect lots of it until they are able to grow stronger and more resistant to the ravages of insects and the like.

By the way, yerba mate (despite the caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline therein), has done AMAZING things for my sleep. I can drink that stuff like ten minutes before I go to sleep and then have the most amazing sleep ever. I don't know what it is in that stuff that makes me sleep so well, but man... It's liquid gold.

"The cling and a clang is the metal in my head when I walk. I hear a sort of, this tinging noise - cling clang. The cling clang. So many things happen while walking. The metal in my head clangs and clings as I walk - freaks my balance out. So the natural thought is just clogged up. Totally clogged up. So we need to unplug these dams, and make the the natural flow... It sort of freaks me out. We need to unplug the dams. You cannot stop the natural flow of thought with a cling and a clang..."

I'm a tea drinker as well, all day long. Caffinated in the a.m., herbal or low caf after 12pm. And a little "Get Some ZZZ's before bed. I recently picked up the Zojirushi hot water all day machine. Best. Thing. Ever. My advice to tea newbies is to stay away from Teavana, they use a ton of artificial flavors and word is are not altogether truthful about GMO and orgainc. Read the labels to make sure you know what you're getting. My favorites are from Republic of Tea. All the ingredients are listed on their website.

But in any case it appears the benefits of tea really have been overhyped. Anti-oxidants do nothing, polyphenols are plant toxins and it's a good source of flourine and other thyroid suppressing chemicals.

I still drink some, though WAY less now than when I discovered Primal. I source my Japanese style teas from Den's Tea. My Chinese style ones are from all over: Seven Cups, Puer Shop, Yunnan Sourcing US, Rishi.

I am a tea drinker as well. My favorite is green tea because it relaxes me. Not to mention the numerous benefit I can get from it. Lately, I am hooked to Oolong as well. I can say its good but nothing beats the green for me, Maybe I have to try the white one too.
