Plenty of good primal carbs, sweet potato, potato, rice if you really need it. Lots of healthier options than bread.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.

I ate a sandwich today too. Ham and cheese with a thick spread of organic butter on freshly baked bread. It was delicious and really hit the spot.

I'll probably be a tiny bit bloated tomorrow. But no big deal.

I'll most certainly be back to primal eating tomorrow though. A little sandwich now and again isn't a big deal for me, but as a staple it is pretty much worthless. Primal eating has changed my life and brought me as close to remission as I have ever been for my severe RA.

I love potatoes and rice! I eat them all the time. But the primal book said stay away from them so I did. Bottom line is I apologize to come off as a troll, i honestly wanted to follow this form of eating to the T, but found out I need extra carbs in my diet. I will say I do admire the hardcore fascist primal people, you have passion and that is important in life. Like I said I think the concept of primal eating is great, no totally sufficient for all, but overall a good plan to follow.

You might benefit from reading this and this. Guides to training and fuelling for a marathon from a former elite marathon runner.

You probably do need more carbs, as do I and lots of other people here due to their active lifestyles. But carbs doesn't = bread/pasta in the same way that protein doesn't = beef. Sure they're the most convenient forms in terms of preparation and availability, but not the best for long term health, or energy levels in my experience. I've never trained for a marathon though. Primal should be thought of as adequate carb, not low carb. It's just that for many people (not you), 50-100g is adequate. The source of the carbs is the key principle that shouldn't be ignored.

As for weight loss, I've gained nearly 5kg on the PB (this is a good thing), of mostly muscle. It's not a weight loss program, it's a way of getting closer to your body's full potential. For many people this means losing weight, for others, not. You have to eat and exercise and sleep and chill out right for that to happen.

Oh crap~ now I've got a headache. It's not a 'weight loss diet' It's a healthy lifestyle. Why is this confusing? Do what you want to do, but please, PLEASE stop comparing this to CW and putting it in a 'category'. If grain carbs work for you, great~ but if so, then this is not your forum. The rest of us are here because grains don't benefit us or our health issues. Can you just read Mark's posts, maybe learn about PB before you diss it?

there's no reason you can't get mega carbs on a hard core fascist primal diet! There are these things called sweet potatoes, squashes, and fruit. Getting to 300g carbs is not that hard.

                              • Havent had time to read thro all this thread, but just in case nobody has mentioned it yet..... what did it for me, grain guzzling addict that I was, was finding out about the fossil record - that is when humans began farming and eating grains their health went into serious decline - can't argue with the bones of dead people imho.

Plus the fact that when we eat grains we are literally feeding the bugs in us that love it, and then we have to process all of their waste carb metabolism products ... eeeuw.
