It's easy. Just imagine you're talking to actual real people and imagine how they will respond to what you say.

Same here in Utah. When I was a little kid, I ran around barefoot with a herd of Arabian horses (now that's talkin' tough feet-- gettin stepped on, kicked, trampled, etc, with lots of mountain rocks and stuff). I've always preferred the barefoot life, but going for a walk on asphalt after 10 in the morning is just a bad idea in these parts!

Hi Dr Bork... Connecticut isn't exactly a "hot" state.

Your Fruit is getting soooo big... and I'm singing that Police song to her in my head right now... LOL
Is that OK... LOL... Sting is my fav artist ever!

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.

Personally for me being "PRIMAL" doesn't work for me, or at least I will never be 100% primal. Being primal seems to be more about people that want to lose weight which is awesome, but be careful, this whole primal thing seems dangerous. Just take caution. Eat healthy, don't be a slave to "name-brand" diet.

          Peace!
Have you had Paleo bread? Expensive, but it's made with coconut flour (I think the other one is almond...not sure). It tastes exactly like bread, to me. It shouldn't be a staple, but it does the trick, by far.

While I'm not eating it as a staple, it can be eaten that way ie daily/weekly without harm. It (Fat Bread) is basically eggs, coconut & macadamias & a few other items. It is heavy & quite filling. And I prefer not to be that weighted down, funny I used to say the exact opposite in my younger days....

FWIW I wear VFFs, too. I like to follow fashion sometimes.

As far as bread goes, did you see Mark's interview with Dr. Eenfeldt, particularly the part about grains? He's very adamant and won't budge on his position against grains. Like a lot of us, he had no celiac and honestly never thought he had an issue with grains. Until he went without them and discovered what it felt like to be truly healthy. If you haven't seen his interview, you should check it out. Mark is such an even-keeled, reasonable, happy, likable guy.

Story of my 4yo, Grace! She used to get colds every 5 mins. I took her off grains and suddenly she was the healthiest kid among all of my friends. I try to give her a cookie or something (cuz honestly, I want her to be able to go to her friend's parties and not have to worry about having a slice of cake if she wants it-- 90% of the time she chooses healthy food on her own, just for the record) and... head cold 3 days later like clock work. Grains are teh eveeels.
Tomorrow we go to pediatric G.I. specialist to see how extensive the issue is.

If you are genuinely questioning, then that's fine. It does come across as you being a bit of a troll though, because most people who come here (and who have looked around the forum a bit) know that saying something like "what's so bad about grains?" will elicit a big response (after all most of us are here BECAUSE we have learned that grains are bad for us and are seeking to live healthier).

If you like grains fine... that's up to you entirely. But if you suggest it is "dangerous" to not eat grains, then you're treading in murky waters. I think the original question was well and truly answered by the poster many pages ago who linked to Mark's article on the subject.

Also being an ex-vegetarian is fine. There are lots of ex-vegetarians/vegans here (including me).

Now I can understand why people following conventional wisdom get confused as to "why grains are bad" because they're being taught that not only are grains wholesome and healthy BUT that they should make up the majority of a person's diet! It can take someone awhile to get their head around the idea that grains are not just unnecessary but they're also bad for you. Many people are gluten intolerant so what do they get told to do? Just get gluten free grain substitutes! It's like... they're not even presented with another option (that of just NEVER EATING GRAIN AGAIN EVER). Because grain is a FOOD GROUP and all!

But I think most people who find themselves on this forum have at least read enough about primal/paleo to have some idea as to why grains are best avoided.

Wheat makes me fart. A lot. Doesn't do much for my popularity.

Hey Gentile, I ate pig kidneys today. You think it's so awesome you ate a sandwich. Big deal. Anybody can eat a sandwich. It takes an iron will and fierce determination to eat something that tastes like urine and has little urine crystals in it. Oh yeah. And no reversal of fortune, either.

As far as your claim to not having a lot of experience with online forums, I call liar liar pants on fire. You're all over the internet, on the barefoot runners forum, Barefoot Ted's huaraches forum and you've got your own barefoot running blog.

Man up. Eat a kidney sandwich and then go for a run in a pair of hiking boots. I dare ya.

I ate a sandwich for lunch of Free the Animal Fat Bread with mascarpone cheese in the middle. I bet my sandwich tasted better and kept me full longer.
