    I'm curious - approximately how much do you guys spend on groceries per person? TIA

    Family of 4 in Canada, approx $700/mo. That includes averaging the cost for buying beef by the half/quarter and butchering game when hubby gets it.

        I'm in Canada, so appx. arm + leg.

        I don't really budget much, but I'd say that altogether I spend about $500/mo on FOOD (including some meals out) for myself. But I buy pretty much anything I want - pricy cuts of meat, exotic fruits, etc.

          About 400$-450$ on meat and then at least another 50$ on vegetables. Which makes absolutely no sense considering with my bills that would give me like -300$ a month.
          In all of the universe there is only one person with your exact charateristics. Just like there is only one person with everybody else's characteristics. Effectively, your uniqueness makes you pretty average.

              We spend $800/mo on groceries for 3 people, but I'm trying to get it down to $500. We did REALLY good this paycheck! I think we spent $100 for 2 weeks. YAAAAY! We give $190 to our local farmer for 30 lbs grass fed beef every month, then fill in the rest with chicken, shrimp, and produce.

                Depending on time of year, between $150-200 (availability of free produce is awesome)

                  $100-$150ish, per week, per person. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on what has grown, been hunted, been gifted or been poached.
                  We are always drying to DIY for both quality and fiscal reasons.

                    $20-40 a week at the farmers market for fresh fruits and veggies and sometimes fish/beef. $30 a week for 5 pre-made and frozen meals that I get from my mom, just to add variety, I use them as grab-n-go lunches for work. Plus about $200 a month at the store (frozen foods, milk, tea, flours, oils, non-primal foods- gluten-free treats, chips, etc.) and pretty much the same amount ($200/mo.) on eating out. For a rough total of $680 a month.

                    *Winces* I've been working on cutting that back. The eating out, which really is pretty much half buying coffee, is what's killing my budget the most. The treats are the next big problem. My goal is eventually to just be buying flours and other pantry essentials at the store and get everything else from the farmers market.

                      I don't track this ... perhaps I should. Probably around $100 - $150 per week equivalent in sterling. I fairly frequently shop at more expensive stores for a few fresh items purely for the sake of convenience... on the other hand I try to make the most of a bargain when I spot it. I should probably freeze more food to cut costs.
                      F 5 ft 3. HW: 196 lbs. Primal SW (May 2011): 182 lbs (42% BF)... W June '12: 160 lbs (29% BF) (UK size 12, US size 8). GW: ~24% BF - have ditched the scales til I fit into a pair of UK size 10 bootcut jeans. Currently aligning towards 'The Perfect Health Diet' having swapped some fat for potatoes.

                        I guess that's 3-3.5 adults.
                        Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

                            On a recent month to Vancouver (July plus a couple of days extra) I (by myself) spent over $900! I ate out a few times (delicious Indian food at Maurya on Broadway), the total includes daily espressos, the crap meal on the ferry on the way over, and I fed my son 5 or 6 times over the month too.

                            That's not what I spend on my partner and I for a month at home, and I am not sure really what it is...maybe I should check...

                              Grocery Shopping only: $700.00 per month for 2, active adults. This figure does not include eating out, alcohol or additional groceries for having guests over. We do not purchase any prepared or packaged food. We do buy high quality foods, including chemical-free vegetables, where possible.
