  • Risks: More Red Meat, More Mortality

    Link:

Eating red meat is associated with a sharply increased risk of death from cancer and heart disease, according to a new study, and the more of it you eat, the greater the risk.

What do you think? A cause for concern among primal eaters? If so, why? If not, why not?

Studies using food questionaires are pretty much useless except to possibly narrow down ideas for what to conduct real studies on. How accurately do you think the average person could/would report food intake?

Remember that any "study" like that uses the word "red meat" to mean processed meats like pepperoni on pizza and burgers and fries.

The other problem is the meat is grain fed and full of hormones. 80/20 but the more I look into it the more I know grass fed is the way to go. Good thing I have found a source here.
        PS
I am pretty sure this study has been discussed before so if you search the forums you will get a lot of good answers to it.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.

I put no value on any study. They can show correlation, but not causation. Many are funded by groups with a financial interest in the results; many others are flawed in ways suggested by commenters above; and even those that are honest and well designed cannot possibly control for the thousands of variables in human life. So, I pay no attention to them.

Read this thread on paleohacks which, amongst other things (such as debunking the study), also include links to all of the great bloggers of the paleo world who also debunked the study.
