  • Thisclose to giving up on this WOE

I have been mostly primal for about 2 months now. The first 2 weeks I lost 2 pounds a week easily. Then family came into town and stressed me out to no end, leading to a few days of bad SAD eating. That set me back up to my starting weight and I've struggled since then to shift back into weight loss mode (that was about 4 weeks ago). But the part that is reallllly concerning me is the constipation (sorry TMI, but I am really about to just go back to breads and fiber here!). I eat loads of veggies and water, supplement magnesium but still it's like my insides have dried up. Are the two related? I feel that they are. Any been there done that advice?

How much magnesium are you taking?

How much fat are you eating?

For that matter, what are you normally eating? Post an average day's food or we won't have any clue.

If anything you can easily add more fat until you are eating more than you can digest. That will grease the path.

The key word is "loads"- moderate your consumption and remember "less can be more" try some eggs and some fruit like bananas for the digestion, mix in some fresh ginger into some of your meat dishes, moderate the veggies and water intake.

And contrary to belief magnesium is not the end all to be all-it can mess with your digestion in supplement form.

Don't give up-do some trial and error and take some of the suggestions to your post and "digest" these 2 cent ideas that is offered here.
The main thing is not weight loss but health first regardless and then your body will "magically" respond -but be realistic with the process-there will be setbacks, stagnation, and most of all it will take time. You're an individual and may respond differently.
        Peace

Eggs and bananas both constipate me. Best advice I can give you is to identify what foods block you up and what don't. Dairy is a HUGE NO-NO for me. If I eat more than a small quantity, I get to not poop for a week or two and fart like rotten corpses every ten minutes for the last three days the dairy brick takes to navigate its way out of the last few feet of my gut. You don't know constipation. He's my demon, and I slayed him.

OT - do the ads for Colon Flow remind anyone else of the SNL ads for Colon Blow?

Back on topic - it could be any number of things (too much fiber, too little fat, too much of a supplement, too little water), so I hope the OP comes back and posts an average day's food. That's really the only way to tell.

Have you tried searching the forum for threads on constipation? There are about a million of them, many with very good, detailed recommendations and suggestions.

Thanks for all the responses! For what it's worth I'm nursing a grokling.... A typical day for me would be 3 eggs scrambled with a cup of greens (spinach/chard mix) in a tablespoon of coconut oil, big salad for lunch with about 2 cups of greens and 4 oz canned salmon, maybe a smoothie with a cup of greens, protein powder and a big handful of blueberries or a half a banana or replace this snack with nuts throughout the day or a few tablespoons of coconut butter throughout the day, and dinner would be a salad with 4 oz of chicken, or maybe sometimes just a little greek yogart. I took 2 tablespoons of epsom salt yesterday so here's hoping for some relief today...

I'm not sure. Your food looks pretty good. Maybe a little more fat, but it really looks fine. I hope someone else has an idea.
