No, no. Sorry. You're right, it was rude - if this is a serious question. Just read the label.

I did read the label - the reason I'm asking is because it says its cured with water and sugar - total carbs from sugar is 1 gm. So is that 1 gram of sugar in 4 slices of canadian bacon a rule breaker????

Its not recommended, you want to lessen your sugar and minimize foods that are more processed.

Its okay for asking -notice all of Marks postings on Is It Primal-I google search alot of food products here myself.

I would recommend store bought pork "American" bacon before Canadian bacon. You get some better fat and I think taste.

Let me end this before someone faints over store bought bacon and let all the primalists fundamentalists dribble ennui what they eat and recommend something akin to the following:
            1. Super nitrate free bacon
            2. US Wellness 100.00 order grass infused bison, bacon
            3. 100% grassfed Beef bacon
            4. Free range hog bacon
            5. Whole Foods 100% non processed naked bacon
            6. and so so on and so that people will pay $10.00 for or they know a local farmer who gets it for them for $1.00 a package
            Peace

Normally I would have opted for bacon --- just your run of the mill, buy it at the local grocery chain store bacon. I eat it several times a week. But when I went to buy some this time it was basically 90% fat - and I'm not paying for that kind of bacon. So I picked up a package of canadian bacon instead.

I decided to do a whole30 - in honor of my 52nd birthday - and just wanted to know if the canadian bacon is okay or not.

Thanks for the responses........ I've searched MDA, and the Whole9 websites and can't find a real solid answer to my question.

That's because every factory puts different slurm into their products labeled "canadian bacon". One factory is selling you a tube of soy, sugar, and pieces of chicken under that label, and the next has an actual piece of pork infused with a few salts for sale. Same name, very different products. You need to research all the ingredients listed for your answer. If it really is just pork, water and sugar - then it's not whole 30 because of the added sugar, but I'd eat some personally.

EEEEWWW - they can do that and still call it "bacon" ???? I'm looking at my label and NO WHERE does it say "pork". Nor does it say anything about the meat that is contained in the package!! It is Kroger brand and the front says "sliced canadian bacon with natural juices".

So, what did I buy? yuck...............

No type of meat indicated? That's odd. What ARE the ingredients, anyway?

Wow~ and all this time I thought Canadian Bacon was just a fancy, processed, expensive version of tubular ham.

I see food all the time labeled as something, only to read the ingredients and discover it's corn, dye and preservatives molded into a shape to resemble the food on the label. As standards get worse, people will get sicker as they think they are eating things they aren't.

there is no "ingredient" list. It just says: Cured with: water, sugar, and contains 2% or less of salt, sodium lactate, sodium phosphate, flavoring, sodium diacetate, sodium nitrite.

then it has the nutrition facts like every other food product out there.

                          maybe I'm eating frankenfood???? nasty.

Ha-ha. They didn't even try to make it sound like food. Throw it out.

You do realize that the word "flavoring" lets them put as much MSG and other synthetic flavors as they want in there, right?
