  • I Keep Overeating! Help!

I am really upset with myself over this. I am a former sufferer of Anorexia and since I started to Primal diet lifestyle i've been eating more than I've ever allowed myself but I am gaining weight because I just override my natural point of satiety.

How can I stop doing this?

I am really struggling with my weight and if I don't sort this out I'm terrified I will resort to my old behaviours to sort it out, not something I ever want to do again.

    Thank you in advance xxx

p.s. I am 25 year old female at 5ft 3inches. I don't know what my weight is I avoid scales although I have been a normal weight for about a year now but it keeps increasing, but I know from my clothes that my weight continues to creep up so right now I just want to stabilise losing weight would be a bonus but I just need to get my bearings and its just not happening.

Are you male or female, how tall are you, what is your current and target weight?
Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

Are you judging over eating because you feel stuffed afterwards? To the point of being uncomfortable? It happens to us all sometimes. For me only when I cook too much food and feel bad throwing it away. So my advice would be to pay close attention to the food you prepare and make sure it is not too much. Keep snacking foods out of the house might help also.

hi, i hope you find advice you can work with here, but i'm writing to recommend that you seek professional assistance with issues like this. it can be a huge help for (what i'm sure you know!) are serious problems. good luck.

If you mean by you're outgrowing your clothes of size 0, it may be in your best interest to ride it out and continue overeating until your hormones and behaviors self-regulate.

I find I eat more when I am close to my cycle or I've started the day with fruit or some such carb. If I stick to mainly protein for breakfast like bacon and eggs and hold off on the fruit until at least lunchtime I am not as inclined to eat as much.

I wish I had leftovers, I prepare enough for what seems like 10 people but I have three sons, two are teens, and they eat everything I make so no leftovers to munch on later. If you want I can loan them to you

I agree with most of what's been posted so far. My only addition would be that maybe you could post a sample day's worth of food to see if you are indeed overeating.

This. Chances are no amount of recommendations for bonebroth/iodine supplementing/macro-rearranging is going to help much with underlying psychological issues you have with eating.

                        Hi,

The book Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth really helped me with emotional eating. Essentially, the compulsive/emotional eating needs to be addressed before any diet will really work. I love her books and her messages. Her book has made it a bit easier for me to embrace the Primal Diet because I don't look at it like a diet or a way to manage my weight but as something I want to do to take care of myself.

It's probably lean mass (Muscle!) now you're eating properly.

That's a good thing. Muscle weighs more than fat too.

Ignoring the scales is a smart move too, go by what you see in the mirror.

I discover I eat more when I am near to my pattern or I've began the day with fruit or some such carbs. If I adhere to mainly aminoacids for morning meal like sausage and egg and keep off on the fruit until at least the afternoon meal I am not as prepared to eat as much.

I wish I had scraps, I get ready enough for what seems like 10 individuals but I have three kids, two are teenagers, and they eat everything I create so no scraps to eat on later. If you want I can mortgage them to you

Thank you everyone for your help. I really appreciate this. I think portion control is my main issue. I eat huge portions and can't leave any behind without feeling guilty. It sounds like I'm not the only one with the problem.
