    Has anyone else noticed that dark chocolate doesn't cut it when you're in ketosis? I had 2 squares of 70% chocolate today (as a little treat) after 2 weeks of VLC and it just did not satisfy me! I actually found it rather unenjoyable and I REALLY felt like going for the milk stuff but in the end did not. I used to love dark chocolate before. What's going on?

      I love dark chocolate, but I have concluded that it is terrible for my skin, so I'm no longer eating it regularly. When I do eat it though, I find it very satisfying.


      Unchatenfrance, how long have you been eating low carb? In ketosis?

      Apparently I suck at life, so I'm crowd-sourcing my decisions, and sharing what I learn.

            haha, yeah. I didn't realise the 70% was considered dark! I go for 90%, if I want something really sweet, I go 85%, if I want bitter I go up to 95. I still don't enjoy munching on the 99% stuff so much, though it's great grated or melted in food

              You can make your own milk chocolate, I guess, if you're looking for something smooth. I butter mine up with palm oil or coconut oil. It takes off some of the earth taste. I usually nom on the 99% though. Even the 85% is too much for me.

                Yeah, I don't know what happened to me - when I first started PB (not ketosis) I found milk chocolate started tasting way too sweet. Now I find the 70% too bitter. Weird.
