  • Primal Fuel for Kids?

Hi all - I was thinking of adding Primal Fuel to my kids' green smoothies for added protein and to make it more palatable. However I'm concerned about the Stevia Leaf Extract and not really sure if it's good to give to small kids (ages 7, 6 and 4). Any insight? Thanks!

I don't think it's a good idea to give kids protein powder on any level, irregardless of the ingredient list, unless directed to do so by a nutritional specialist (ie: they're rapidly losing weight, etc). Encourage them to eat more meat/eggs

Thank you - I definitely don't want to make protein shakes part of my kids' long term diet. My wife and I cut sugar and started limiting carbs over two years ago accomplishing weight loss and better overall health. We want to transition our picky little carbivores to a more primal diet. I'm going to look at the creative recipes for kids on this site. Any further advice to feeding small kids in line with primal is appreciated - thanks again!

I wouldn't add protein powder to a child's diet because you may end up giving them too much protein. Off them whole foods in a variety of ways. They will choose what their body needs. I have a 2 and 4 year old and it's amazing how their tastes change from week to week. As long as the choices are healthy, whole foods, they will develop a large palate and be at the right size for their body. Never force them to eat or you are interfering with their internal hunger cues.
