Another homebrewer here (beer, cider, mead, grape & other fruit wines - LOL we even tried making wine from whey).

I loves me some IPA, esp with a shot of t'killya. But since going primal my tolerance has changed. A whole beer usually makes me feel woozy, carby. I haven't given up beer though. I have cut back to once a week maybe (not counting this week which is vacation & birthday) and will sometimes split one with my partner (also eating primal). Beer doesn't seem to affect her the same way, but she doesn't mind an excuse to cut back either.

Just cutting back, I notice better sleep, better digestion, less bloated feeling. And much more appreciation for the brews I do quaff.

A note on vodka - try potato-based, not grain. Our fave is Koenig from Idaho. It actually tastes great as a sippin liquor ANd Buffalo Trace is a tasty bourbon for the price. We buy more of it now than we do scotch or whisky.

Haven't seen Koenig here, but we get Luksusowa potato vodka from Poland, which is delicious and priced nicely.

ooohhh Buffalo Trace is a fave. It's a lovely, vanilla-forward bourbon. Sometimes I have it for dessert!

Me too. I still drink beer socially, but that's now more on the order of a bottle over couple of months.

My Dad and I homebrew together and to be honest, beer doesn't even bother me a little bit. I'm in college, so I'm young and probably consume beer more often and in larger amounts than most of you do. Maybe my body is used to it? By college standards, I'm tame though. Usually two or three quality brews. If I actually want to get drunk I then switch to a drink that rhymes with frisky. I haven't had a drop of either since the beginning of May and feel no better or worse.

So to actually answer the OP: no I haven't given it up and no I don't plan to.

IMO college is an absolute horrible time to even consider giving up booze. However, if your drinking the swill I did as a college fella then that is not actually beer....it is piss with alcohol added for flavor (Pabst, The Beast, Natty, and a couple others).

I tend to not have it in the house but will have some when I go out.

Mostly wine and vodka now, but I still down a frothy pitcher or two every now and then. Beer gives me such a happy drunk...

Haven't, and probably never will. I cut back severely though. I'll have one or two nights a month where I have a couple...enough to feel good, and that's it. I also don't ever drink anything other than Guinness.

I only drink Guinness and red wine now. And way less Guinness than I used to. According to my food diary I am drinking about half a pint a day but that's maybe 3 pints on a Sunday lunchtime skewing the week. At 30g carbs a pint I find it best avoided. Red wine is a far better proposition.

Gave up beer and brewing beer about 3 months into paleo, I'm better without it but it really is my drink of choice. Spent most of last summer really drunk because I'm not used to drinking wine (or being low carb). I was recently in Portland/Seattle so went to Hopworks and Pikes and enjoyed the beer, will keep it for brewery crawling, high end, good stuff only.
