    Hello everyone.

    I am new to paleo way of eating although I stopped eating grains and sugar about 2 years ago. Right now I am consuming lot's of aspartame and fat free dairy and I guess this is why I can't lose the 12 pounds I gained during pregnancy.

    I know that the best breakfast is eggs, but I am allergic. I tried nut with coconutmilk and fruit, but after 2 hours I get hungry again and ended up eating lowfat cottage cheese with almonds and sugar free syrup (horrible, I know). The only breakfast that makes me feel full until 2pm, when the baby is asleep and I have time to cook my lunch, is dinner leftovers (grilled chicken or pork / fish or homemade turkey burgers) with some raw vegetables.

    Is eating dinner leftovers for breakfast with some vegetable or a piece of fruit ok? Will it help me lose those pounds?

    I do 20 - 30 minutes of strenght training everyday and I walk at a moderate - brisk pace for about an hour

    Meat is the best thing to eat for breakfast, that's why you do so well on it. Throw out the crazy idea that you have to eat "breakfast foods" for breakfast.

    If you're going to eat cottage cheese - buy full fat. Low fat is crap. Knock off the sugar free crap too. That is not good for you.

      I never eat 'breakfast' food. I eat either meat or fish for breakfast, occasionally with eggs. For me, a high protein breakfast is essential--and I've lost a significant amount of weight eating this way.

        Yes, 100% OK. Eating dinner leftovers or other non-breakfast foods for breakfast is a great way to maintain variety in your diet. Healthy foods are healthy regardless of what time of day you eat them. Having some protein for breakfast goes a long way toward satiety.

        For the record, I usually either have eggs or homemade breakfast sausage(either beef or turkey with various spices, with a little olive oil if it's really lean), plus some veggies as a go-to for breakfast. The protein and a bit of fat, plus the volume of non-starchy veggies are really filling and hold me over to lunch no problem.

          We don't have 'traditional' breakfast anymore. That's nigh-impossible since they are all cereal based.

          Eggs, ARE awesome, but we don't have them every day. Here's some alternative options you might like:
          1. Leftover veggies refried in lard (especially boiled potatoes, they are even better refried than the night before)
          2. Stir fried veggies in Ghee (e.g. red onion, capscum, grated carrot, mushrooms, spinach)
          3. Fried onion, bacon and chicken livers
          4. Soup (onions, carrots, celery, fatty meat)

          We basically just have the same sort of thing we would have as a dinner for breakfast instead. Our two 'go-to' meals are soup and bacon-n-eggs with stir fried veges.
          Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

            I generally IF during "breakfast time", but yeah, leftovers make a great breakfast. I often eat eggs with my first meal but I think my absolute favourite first meal is a really big a$$ salad. Some really good toppings: lots of fatty cut of meat (I like steak, smoked pork or some ground meat), bacon, egg (you obviously would omit), avocado, cucumber, lots of lettuce, feta cheese (if you're eating dairy), mushrooms, onions, olives, peppers, with a homemade caesar dressing. I like this one that was posted on this forum by Grokdoll (http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/thread50617.html). Just omit the egg yolks.

            "If anyone wants a stellar Caesar dressing recipe, look no further:

            Carmine's Caeser Dressing
            6 anchovy fillets
            3 cloves of garlic (I used five because I loooove garlic)
            2 large egg yolks
            1/4 cup red wine vinegar
            juice of one small lemon
            1 cup of olive oil
            8 tablespoons of romano cheese (I’ve used parmesan a few times)
            1 tablespoon of flat leaf parsley
            1/4 teaspoon of dried oregano
            salt and freshly ground black pepper

            In a blender or food processor, puree the 6 anchovy fillets. Add the garlic and blend until well mixed. Add the egg yolks and blend for about 2 minutes. Turn off the motor, add the vinegar and lemon juice, and pulse the mixture for 20 seconds. With the motor running, add the olive oil in a slow, steady stream until incorporated. Add the cheese, parsley and oregano, and pulse the mixture for ten seconds. Season with salt and pepper and chill for at least four hours. Chilling the dressing thickens it and helps it adhere to the lettuce. "

            ** I generally don't add salt since the anchovy's are pretty salty. I empty the entire 56g can of anchovy in olive oil into the blender. ** Try blending and tasting it before adding any extra salt (IMO).

            Although it's a salad, just make sure you load it up with protein sources, low carb veggies and the dressing. SO GOOD and surprisingly filling.

            I say, just forgot about the notion of typical breakfast foods.

              leftovers (especially if you had a nice paleo dinner with lots of meat, fat, and veggies) is awesome for breakfast. Eat more good fats. Your baby needs it if you're breastfeeding! Cut out the aspartame, you're not doing yourself or baby any favors by consuming it.

                  Thank you all for your replies and suggestions.

                  Dr. Bork Bork, today it's actually day 1 aspartame - free!!! I thought it would be difficult, but it isn't! I was surprised to find out that black coffee tastes better than the one I used to drink (4tsp aspartame....) and that I can digest my food just fine without a chewing gum.
