My bad, did not see the shower part..... I listen to music in the tub with the head phones on or read my Kindle. In the shower, I just let my mind wander. Showering is much easier if you do your shower part with lukewarm water, and then start turning it down bit by bit, each time your part gets used to it, turn it down more. Going all the way cold in the shower is insane. I think the big difference between shower and tub, in the tub, there is the chance for heat transference from your body to the water and the water actually warms up right next to your skin, in the shower, with the water constantly moving, no chance of the water warming up a bit....

No, it doesn't feel that bad, it just boring and I want to get on with my day in the morning and got to sleep at night.
Your attention can be focused critically upon any mental state such as 'boring,' 'annoying,' or 'can't wait for this to be over.' What is the nature of the annoyance and where is it's 'victim' located. If you learn to use and *force* this inquiry every moment of your life can become useful and interesting.

      . . . just sayin'

Try some blue blocker lenses an hour or so before sunset. After a few days it may help with the sleep. Mine cost about 5 dollars. You don't need costly ones. I can read from and use my computer screen right up to when I want to go to bed. That and the cold exposure have me sleeping much more deeply than before I started. I sleep without waking all night. I used to wake with various discomforts having to do probably with systemic inflammation. That is all gone. It left almost immediately. The difficulty you experience getting this routine off the ground is probably going to pay off for you big time. Don't stop because of small difficulties or doubts.

Yal my last couple of baths, I just couldn't get into it and couldnt wait to get out. I didnt really give it a chance. However I have been spot icing though. I dont mind that so much. Although it was much colder on my upper legs last night, than my tummy. I am guessing cuz my tummy has more fat.

        • At 4AM your family is probably in the deepest part of their sleep. You could try sealing an ipod in a series of plastic bags. The only trick would be to keep it from the direct flow of water. Taping the bags with the player in it to the wall may help.

          • I don't own an ipod.

I will try to sing to myself all the songs I can remember from my teen years. That is my usual way of passing time when waiting.

Yes, I am trying to use cold showers to improve my sleep after reading the 4 hour body. I wanted to also experiment with different lights, as described in this book. It's good to hear that someone has success with it. In the summer I go to bed well before the sunset, but I am pretty sure that it doesn't matter for blue light exposure. Need to put it on the list for when we'll travel in States this summer. Doubt they have stuff like that in Canada.

            • This is what I have. Looks like I didn't remember the price. Can you buy from Amazon in Canada?

              • Ok y'all. I ordered some supplements, and then I couldnt remember why.

Well, I just found the note I sent to myself so I don't know where I got this information. Anyone know anything about Bitter Melon & CT?

Here is the note I sent myself
Bitter melon extract has been known to increase BAT production, take the supplement 2-3 hours before your CB for maximum effectiveness.

                • I did a 40 minute. I have been slacking but my motivation was that I am seeing definition in my calves that I can't explain. I have been active but nothing specifically targeting my calves on purpose. I have been CTing for about a month, so I am not sure if this is the reason, or one of the reasons, but I am hoping it is a benefit.

I also laid on my ice pack when I went to bed. It wasnt all the way frozen (I forgot to put it in the freezer until late afternoon) so I was not worried about frost bite.

                  • Ditto on the calf definition which I ascribe simply to decreasing overall body fat. Been doing cold showers for almost 3 weeks now and dropped 1-2% BF after being stuck for over a month. Obviously can't prove a causal relationship here but pretty happy with how things are going.

                    • Where did everyone go? I have only been spot chilling because motility issues and a wonky heart make cold showers and tub baths impossible, as well as likely inadvisable. But ice packs on the love handles - that I can do. Except my love handles are more front and center. Anyway, I have to go - lightning storm .Come back, everybody. I miss your chilly tales. ;-)

                        • I think I read awhile back that you should spot ice for two weeks and then take a break. Is that correct or no?

                          • I've still been cold showering essentially daily. Of late, though, with the prolonged temps in triple digits, I've had a hard time getting the water much cold at all! (Kinda disappointing!)

In the 1980s, while continuing his research on the effects of Whole Body Cryotherapy, Dr.Yamaguchi and his associates came to the conclusion that rapid short-term freezing of the skin’s surface to a temperature of approximately 30°F while inside the cryosauna has a more beneficial effect on the human body than its gradual cooling while immersed in an ice bath, where the lowest temperature possible is approximately 41°F.

As a result of Dr. Yamaguchi’s research, along with several other medical professionals around the world, modern medicine is able to understand what happens to the body when inside the cryosauna and what the ultimate benefits may be.
