  • Male Issues: Low Libido...BUT! Having (Sorry for being frank) Wet Dreams?

Has any other male experienced this on the Primal diet? The primary symptom is odd to have to begin with (Low libido). I've had it so long it doesn't bother me anymore though, so this is not my primary issue, and is not the reason why I am posting this thread. I plan on recovering it without upping my carbs. Instead, I am going to up my fats and see if this helps.

My issue of focus lies within a particular scenario..I usually have a low libido, and it's normally gone during the day and partially exists in the mornings. However, I find that even though I have a very low libido, I am still having wet dreams? Has any other male experienced this issue while on this diet, or just in general? Could you explain what helped you and/or why this may be happening to me? Any help or insight is appreciated.

Excess? Your body has to get rid of it somehow.

hmm... although I'm female and probably won't be very helpful, my situation is kinda similar. I also have a very low libido due to a brain tumour that destroyed nearly all of my hormones including sex hormones HOWEVER, sometimes in the middle of the night, I'll wake up feeling a huge ''surge'' of umm hormones that I never experience during the day.
My only explanation for that is that while sleeping maybe our bodies tend to release more hormones? I don't know why this would be the case though; I tried looking it up but never found an explanation.
If you are worried about it and your low libido in general, you could always see an endocronologist (hormone specialist).

I always had a high libido but years ago it staggered and then puttered out. It would take off now and then (always the morning) but it was hit or miss. After cleaning up my health habits pre paleo I had my first nocturnal emission at 31. After going mostly primal my libido is back with a vengeance. It didn't happen overnight though, and certainly not in the initial phases. How 'clean' is your diet? How far along are you? I'll also day that I noticed a HUGE jump adding some evening physical activity a few hours before bed and "blacking out" my section of the house (brother lives upstairs and I'm going to have to do something about his television being on 24-7 at a reasonable volume)

Sounds like this explanation makes sense...I did have an MRI done a couple years ago, and they found nothing, except a shrunken pituitary gland. After visiting endocrinologists, they told me my luteinizing hormones were low, my cortisol levels were extremely high and my testosterone levels were extremely low. My body was soo messed up then (when I first went primal - or candida diet to be completely honest). This was all around 2 years ago, and I feel much better today than I did then, but still having issues.

My diet is very clean, it comprises only of healthy fats (Coconut oil, High vitamin butter oil, butter, EVOO and animal fats), meat and fish (none of the animals or eggs are grass fed or pastured, but the fish are wild caught), lots of cooked vegetables, iodized sea salt, macadamia nuts only, and water. I never have anything processed, or have had anything processed for months. I usually cheat once every couple months, mainly because I don't care to. I don't eat any fruit, starches or raw veggies. I sometimes have a sweet potato here and there, but rarely. The only things I cook my food with are spices and herbs. I don't use any other condiment, except organic mustard once in awhile. I've been following a diet similar to primal for about 2.5 years. I don't exercise because I'm already low in weight, and I feel I should exercise when I am able to begin gaining.

Hmmm. Well, you've been tested and have a better understanding if your body which is the first step and puts you miles ahead of most people. Did theses things start after going extremely low carb? I'm not familiar with the candida diet, but this may or may not give some insight...

Other than that I'm out of suggestions. Like I said, I've had an unexpected resurgance. I don't even take ashwaghanda (herbal supplement that supercharges libido in some people) anymore. It's been insane. I feel as horny (sorry for the details but relavent to the post) as I did almost ten years ago after a 6 year slump.

I'd say your lack of physically activity and low carb is what is doing it. I had my concussion and after I healed up I started working out regularly again and I could feel an incredible surge in libido. My fiancee said she could definitely tell I was having to really work at behaving myself compared to before. As for the wet dreams? It has to go somewhere...

At the heart of libido for both men & women is hormones. At the heart of hormones is the Thyroid Gland. The thyroid absolutely requires a lot of IODINE. So, too does the female organs & the male prostate. There are magical links between the brain, the thyroid, hormones & the sex organs which all require iodine. America is suffering an iodine deficiency epidemic causing widespread disease. 90% of Americans are now suffering from various stages of Hypothyroidism (cold hands, cold feet, and basal body temp below 98.3 ) Vast numbers of women are suffering from Fibrocystic Breast Disease, PCOS, painful cycles, Endometriosis & cysts. Men are suffering Prostate BPH, Low Libido, Erectile Dysfunction, insensitive glans. The solution to these problems is to eat a LOT of kelp seaweed + Sea foods or take iodine with required supplements. Halogen Toxins in our food & water have stripped iodine out of our cells.

Thank you for the links, I will look into em. As for Iodine, I can totally see this as a potentially beneficial supplement. I've just started using an iodized sea salt with my cooking, and already notice a difference in my skin. Problem is when I consume seaweed. I always break out with some zit-like bumps on my quads and the top of my feet. So, I don't know if it's a healing reaction or bad reaction..I also get a burning feeling in my stomach and hiccups..What do you think?? Did you get symptoms when first using iodine?

I do tend to be sensitive to something in tap water too, which causes an almost asthma-like response..I hate it! Which supplements do you recommend and where do you get them?

Thank you Grizz for the links! As for Iodine, I did just recently add it my diet through iodized sea salt, though I imagine the amount of iodine may not be enough. I do remember trying a kelp supplement before with interesting results. I would breakout on my quads and feet, I would develop a rash around my thyroid, and I would get a burning feeling in my stomach along with hiccups. Is it normal to experience these kind of reactions to seaweed? Or may it an intolerance??

                        @Grizz

Very interesting! I've only spent a little time looking into the iodine issue. I did see a post linking to a video and a comment about bread making using bromide (if I remember correctly) instead of iodine (seem to remember it may have been you that posted it). Also, that would make sense about the thyroid and libido. Again, I'm not super educated on that aspect, however ashwaghanda is a powerful libido enhancer for both men and women but can cause hyperthyroidism in people with thyroid issues. Very interesting stuff!

We have discovered a procedure we call T2T where we paint iodine (mixed with a little grapeseed oil to prevent dermatitus) to the testicles. This speeds iodine into the prostate and relieves symptoms of BPH, insensitive Glans, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction. The response is surprisingly rapid. Women enjoy similar benefits by painting the vulva with same iodine-oil mix. One of our members in the iodine group just reported his life-long testicular cyst cleared up completely from the T2T procedure.

You are correct, bakers stopped using iodine in their bread in 1980 and started using the toxic Bromide. You can buy bread that is bromide free but you have to read the labels. The biggest culprit in stripping away our iodine is Fluoride used in treating city water, toothpaste and many other products. We can't escape the toxins, but we can overcome the toxins by titrating slowly up to 50mg iodine a day with required supplements, per Dr. Brownstein.

                            This is all very interesting!

My bf has suffered from really low libido, although since going paleo he's dramatically improved. I never knew about the link between iodine and libido either. Would you suggest a iodine test Grizz? (painting some iodine on the wrist? something like this?)

Yes, order a bottle of Lugol's 5% iodine from Amazon.Com. Then paint a little patch on the wrist. The brown stain should last for 24 hours, if not he is deficient. My 1st skin patch test vanished in only 3 minutes ! That was in January. Now it is better, lasting about 7 hours. This test is less than perfect, but it is cheap and easy. Also, this AMAZING testimonial just came in from the Dr. Kruse Discussion Group:
                              http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum...tml#post852820

The drug companies cannot keep iodine hidden any longer. There is a ground swell of support raging across the internet. The Dr. Kruse group just started their own Iodine Group.

Unless your BF eats a lot of seaweed & sea foods, then I guarantee he is severely deficient. 90% or Americans are. Here is a HORRIBLE statistic. 80% of American Women are suffering from various stages of Fibrocystic Breast Disease caused by iodine deficiency.

Please help us pass the word to everyone you know. We need more disciples to tell the world. Millions of suffering women are depending on us. IMO, it is CRIMINAL that the drug industry is milking iodine deficiency for every dollar they can grab and then sweeping iodine under the rug and whitewashing all the iodine medical documents prior to WW2.
