  • Eating lots of fruit?

i haven't posted in a while, but I have been having much success with primal living! I am waaay less hungry, can go without breakfast and can concentrate on school. ( I am recovering from anorexia) Anyways, It has been hot here for the past few days and I have been eating much more fruit than primal recommends. I am just craving it. I don't want to screw anything up and binge or something. I ate a high fat lunch and am satisfied, but just have the urge to have some fruit (berries and oranges) every couple hours. Is this ok? Will I mess anything up?

Trust your body to know what nutrients it needs. I went from a general lowish carb way of eating to primal, and for me the difference is that I eat more fruit, since I no longer eat even the small amounts I used to eat of most other carbs. Some people like to eat some fat (cheese, coconut butter...) with their fruit so the glucose hits their bloodstream more slowly, but that probably isn't an issue unless you have type 2 diabetes.

I've found that I'm way more compliant to paleo/primal when I allow fruit in my diet. I try to limit it to the days I go for a run, but that doesn't always happen. Some days you just want raspberries & heavy cream, y'know?

Fruit is a natural and whole food, so if your body is craving it then give it what it wants.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who has said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own experience.

In the mind of the beginner, there are many possibilities; in the mind of the expert, there are few.

          Absolutely.

I've been on a fruit kick lately too.

Don't get all hung up on the patterns and trends of the forum. Frankly, listening to the forum, and not the book/blog is what nearly ruined Primal for me. Do what your body says. That's the only one you need to be listening to.

Do it. I probably eat the most fruit out of everyone on this forum and I'm doing just fine. I can eat upwards of ten servings a day. This often looks like two cups of berries, three to four bananas, a handful of dates, a mango or two, and some frozen pineapple. That's just me, though.

If you're not diabetic, or close to it, I would say, go for it. Sometimes, you just gotta satisfy those cravings, also

as long as you can digest it (some people have fructose issues in their gut, but you would know this for sure otherwise), consuming fruit is just fine! trust your body to know what you need!

Just go with it. Eat when your hungry. Hot weather is good fruit weather.

If you're craving carbs, better fruit than something less healthy. So long as the base of your caloric intake is from healthy fats, and you are getting exercise, I don't think there's a problem.

I don't have anything against fruit, but I don't think snacking all day every day is really ideal. Are you eating fruit every couple hours every day or just once in a while? Maybe try eating a bit more with your meals or even add some carbs and fruit in with your meal.

I was gonna say something along those lines, but OP is recovering from anorexia....the last thing she needs is to concentrate on limiting how often she eats.

Makes sense. Sorry - I was unaware of her history. The curse of giving advice without a proper history I guess.

ETA: Dang - just saw it was in the original post. OP please ignore me, I am a moron today.
