  • Dumb question about bone broth

I want to make some bone broth and just bought a bunch of oxtails. My very basic question--can I braise them, pull off the meat, and then make the broth? As in, can I make the broth out of bones that have already been cooked?
    Thanks!

Yes, often tastes better when the bones are cooked already. Gives more of a roasted flavor. This is the best way to do it. I cook my broth bones first even if there is no meat on them.

I roast my bones first and then stew for 24 hrs. I even throw in some meat to add more flavoring to the broth.

I take off the meat as soon as it's done and eat it!! The bones go back in the pot.
