  • Food for travel

Hi all. I had been debating what I was going to survive on for a two flight, 25 hour trip to Bali that I'm leaving for tomorrow.

I've posted a blog about what I decided on. I hope this helps any one who is traveling soon!!

Does anyone have any other ideas ?? I don't want to do dried fruit, for obvious reasons LOL! ... Right now, I've got macadamias, pumpkin seeds, some bars for Hubs, I'm going to get the jerky/pemmican today .... has anyone ever taken CHEESE or HB eggs ?? Do "they" let you ???

We fly to the U.S regularly and I can never get a meal to suit my needs. There isn't even a low carb option with American Airlines, although they cater for most other dietary needs. I always end up eating the gluten free option but it's sooooo salty tasting, and I suspect contains a lot of MSG because I blow up like a balloon after eating it. I don't think they'd let you take any food substances past security.

I've safely taken a big bag of nuts with me on the plane. Security will only bat an eye at gel-like foods such as jams and sauces.

Also, most airports have food services after the checkpoint, so you could buy 1 or 2 salads for the flight.

I'd just go with a couple of pounds of pre-cooked bacon myself!
            I grok, therefore I am.

We're going to be out of town for 5 days and I was wondering what I can carry so not all our meals are in a restaurant. Our hotel room won't have a stove. Thanks for the ideas MandyGirl! Thanks for the bacon idea LTC. I think I'll boil some eggs and cook bacon and take them with me and keep in the refrigerator in our room. We'll be driving (4-hr drive), so I guess I can carry some salad greens, salad trimmings and EVOO too.

Have fun in Bali MadyGirl, it's one of those places I've always wanted to visit.
