  • Question about rice from Newbie

I understand that rice is technically a grain, and not necessarily Primal, but if I were to eat it, is white rice or wild rice better? In Mark's book, he says that wild rice is a good substitute for brown or white rice, but I see a lot of people on the forums talking about eating white rice? What am I missing?

    Thanks for your help!

Wild rice is a seed while white rice is a grain but fairly benign. There are lots of posts here and Mark has addressed white rice in a recent blog.

White rice is the shy kid of the grain family. While his brothers and sisters run about causing problems, white rice is content with just being inert for most folks.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who has said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own experience.

In the mind of the beginner, there are many possibilities; in the mind of the expert, there are few.

Ok, so I get that white rice isn't that bad, and I have seen Mark's post on it. So if wild rice is a seed, that would mean it's allowed, and preferred over white rice?

You guys might not do rice at all, but if you do, which would you prefer?

I have not had wild rice yet...on my list of things to try.
Which kind or rice would I want? None tbh not much flavour and since I am not training for a marathon I can get all the carbs I want/need from healthy veg and other sources. If I am wanting more carbs I would probably eat a nice tasty sweet potato.

Wild rice has more flavor than white, kind of nutty and a bit earthy. For me white rice is a vehicle for sushi.

White rice, when I go through my standard prep, doesn't do anything to me.
