    Exactly.

If having some ice cream or a couple slices of pizza once in a while makes you happy then by all means go ahead and enjoy yourself.A diet that makes you miserable because you have to avoid something you enjoy, even in small amounts, isn't a way of eating that I want to stick to.I'd much rather eat on overall healthier diet while indulging in some tasty junk once in a while because I get the health benefits of eating paleo with the happiness that comes from a nice bowl of ice cream or some pipping hot Italian food.I do mma and functional strength training 5 days a week,a little treat now and then isn't gonna hold me back in any noticeable way.

I must be weird but i much prefer Haggen Dazs Vanilla Fro Yo to there ice cream. Only Questionable ingredient the fro yo has is corn syrup but i can live with that when eat a small amount on a carb up.

21g of sugar isn't all that terrible. That means you can eat an entire pint and still be well under 100g of carbs for the day. That's less carbohydrate than a PB&J sandwich and a Coke, which is a pretty typical lunch. I do a pint of B&J's once a month as a treat. As far as junk food goes, ice cream is one of the most benign. Especially if you make it yourself!

Mmmmm... Haagen Dazs Strawberry. You have to eat the entire pint in one sitting. That's the only way to go.

Just don't do it too often. I've literally done that easily up to 4 times certain weeks. I'd like to say they're in the distant past but... I can't.

It's actually been about 2 months since I have though... but I'm happy for that. Nowadays I just nibble on it every now and then. Those single serving cups, I'm telling you... there's a reason not all flavors are included, only the essentials...

i used to eat one a week roughly while still following a primal diet, then decided to stop them. the results in that one minor 500ml ice cream change have, for me been phenomenal.

I can't do that any more with ice cream. Can't manage it. Small portions only, and it still gives me a headache later in the day.

Haagen Dazs chocolate peanut butter used to be my drug of choice, and I shot up every chance I got. I was seriously a straight-up junkie. PB is my rehab.

Never did like ice cream that much, gourmet or otherwise, so that was a small loss going Primal.

I make my own, which iseasy to do IF you're at home anyway, but just labor intensive enough that you'll only make and eat it for special occasions. Also, it's rich enough--far richer than Haagan Daz, which I also adore--that you can't really eat more than one scoop. Made it for the in-laws once; the youngest, a boy, asked for a second helping of ice cream, and his parents stared at him in disbelief. He's a skinny wee thing who doesn't get sugar normally--I think he was actually wanting a second helping of the cream and egg!! No ice cream maker needed. David Lebovitz's
vanilla ice cream is a good one. Scratch the vanilla bean steeping if you want and double the vanilla extract. Add the extra egg yolks for more richness. Cut the sugar as low as you want to go. Sub heavy cream for the initial cup of milk if you want. I've tried it all ways, and it's always good.
If you don't have an ice cream maker, then when your custard is done, put it in a fairly wide container, if possible, and stick that container in your freezer. Take it out to stir it up good with a fork every hour or so, breaking up any ice crystals that have formed. Take it out to stir more often if you're so inclined. The ice cream should be done within four to five hours.
