the Vit D council recommends 1000IU/every 25lbs of body weight... my almost 4yo and almost 2yo both get (both are ~30Lbs) ~1500 IU of VIT D in the winter, in the summer when they spend most of the day out side at daycare, they get ~900IU. When they get sick I up them to 2000IU

Vitamin D drops are easiest with babies.

I like these--in a coconut oil base: Carlson Labs, For Kids, Ddrops, Liquid Vitamin D3, 400 IU, 0.34 fl oz (10 ml) - iHerb.com

I have three kids the oldest two have aspergers and autism respectively. I've read a lot about the correlation between vit-d deficiency and autism, and want to make sure i have all bases covered.

Just be really careful. Playing around with supplements in an adult is one thing, but in a one year-old?

^Agreed. If your Vitamin D levels are good, assuming you breast feed, that should keep your bases covered. If you don't breast feed, I would keep the dose quite low or (don't kill me) consult a doctor.

My pediatrician actually recommended Vit D for breastfed babies (it is already added to formula, I think). 10 month old gets 500 IU, sometimes skips a day. Weaned 23 pound toddler gets 1000 IU, as per Vit D council recommendations, approved by pediatrician. I use liquid drops, I think it's called LifeKids brand or something similar. 500IU/8 drops (0.25mL).
