  • Gonna have noodles in a Chinese restaurant -- what to do after that?

    Okay, so I got invited to have dinner next week at a Chinese restaurant famous for its noodles. I can't refuse this offer, so I'm going to do it.

    It's okay to do this a few times per year, right?

    My question is: What should I do afterwards, in order to properly recover from the sugar high, insulin shock, load on the pancreas, and whatnot.

      That's what I would do... just go back to your regular way of eating the next day. Eating plenty of protein and some fat with the noodles will help blunt the sugar spike. Order them with beef. Use it as your 20% and just enjoy!

        Nothing. One meal is irrelevant.

          take a walk afterwards, and breathe deeply.

          seriously, not a biggie. go for rice noodles if you can. don't do this often.

              Just try not to stuff yourself - the less you eat, the better. Try and eat mostly other things, while taking bites of your noodles to show respect to whomever invited you. If they ask why you didn't finish, just say that they're really good, but you can't handle too much starch.

              Eat some, just not everything - if it's a belly full's size portion.

                Yeah--it's likely no big deal.

                I usually take times like this as a little n=1 time. I eat it, and I see what it does to my body. How do I feel after I eat it? Am I lethargic? Am I satisfied? Am I uncomfortable? Am I bloated? How's digestion?

                Pretty much every time, it's confirmation that gluten does bad things to my body.

                Then, just get back on the wagon and go back to what works for you. Your body will probably be fine within 24 hours.
