  • Meat increasing MR

    I am a competitive cyclist and have trained with HR and power for quite some time, also measuring resting hr each morning. I think I've noticed higher numbers overall after switching to much higher meat consumption in my diet (mainly more fatty meats and red meat).

    Has anyone else had this and could it be from the protein in red meat being harder to break down? I'd like to give my body the easiest time possible given how much stress it experiences already training 14-20 hours per week. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

    We don't need that much protein. Try more fat.

      But in comparing the balance of red vs white meat for example, does red put more stress on digestion due to a harder to break down protein and therefore increase MR?
