  • So who else blew it today?

    I admit it.

    It's Thanksgiving, and I was not primal. Didn't even try. Crescent rolls? Yes please. And stuffing? You bet. Don't even start me on the pie. And Cool Whip....

    But you know, it's one day. I figure I'll return to my regularly scheduled program tomorrow.

    Anyone else blow it? And what was your weak spot?

      I was fine until my neighbor showed up with a plate of food for me. My husband is in the military and is on deployment at the moment. I guess they felt bad that I was alone and brought some food. I could not turn it down because I didn't want to hurt their feelings and they have no way of knowing that I don't feel bad because I'm alone on thanksgiving (I am the type of person who goes out to eat by myself as well). I ate almost all of the turkey and took a few bites of everything else and then got rid of it. It was a very nice gesture on their part and I enjoyed what little I did have. After I took a long walk.

        I didn't blow it, but I had a planned day of indulgence. (Like a piece of cheesecake for breakfast and two more after the turkey!)

        Started the day with a group of fellow turkeys running up and down the bleachers at the junior college. Definitely helped with digesting everything. Gobble, gobble!

          I guess you could say I blew it in the strict sense, but I planned on having a small piece of pie and therefore enjoyed every bite of it. Of course I am paying for it today, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and having pie is a tradition I am willing to keep. No regrets here.

            i had a little sugar ... in the form of a spoonfull of "pistachio fluff" that ive always had huge bowls of ... and pumpkin pie sans crust ... other than that i was a good boy LOL

              I'm a total newbie and I planned to take the "day off" and did - but found myself far less interested in treats than before. The savory stuff - cornbread etc - yes, but had zero interest in dessert. Ok, maybe not zero, but very little.

                I also had a "planned day of indulgence." My main objective was to enjoy myself with some good food and family time, and not over do it to the extent that I would wake up with a gut-ache at 2am.

                Lunch was pretty off (grains in the soup, a dinner roll, oreo-dessert), but my mom made a great meal for dinner that I thoroughly enjoyed. Free-range turkey, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and cranberries. I enjoyed a piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert and called it a night.

                I would call my fist Thanksgiving since going Primal a success. I enjoyed some off food, didn't go overboard (in my opinion), and I'm waking up today not feeling lousy or with a craving for junk. I'll have some scrambled eggs when I get hungry, and that's that.

                  I did so good, I have to brag...other than a little overeating, I managed all primal foods...turkey, olives, celery, greenbeans, strawberries, cheese, and salami. Plus, now have a crockpot full of turkey carcass brewing!

                    we went to our friend's house for Thanksgiving, but we brought our own turkey, and contributed mashed cauliflower, mostly-primal pie, paleo stuffing, gluten free crescent rolls, and primal pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. My favorite thing at our friend's house was homemade cranberry jelly made with cranberries, pectin, and lemonade. Except for mega carbs, I'd say I stayed pretty close to primal

                      I completely blew it, though I planned to do so, because I wanted to see what happened to me. I had turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, sweet potatoes with pecans and maple, green bean casserole, squash casserole, coconut cream pie and my sister-in-law's pink-stuff (some kind of whipped cream salad with cherries). Not even ten minutes after finishing, I thought I was going to puke--several people who don't even know I'm Primal asked if I was OK. And the funny thing was, I really didn't even enjoy it while I was eating it. But within half an hour I was OK and didn't have any serious after effects.

                      It was a good lesson for me, and I needed to do this, as I am now more certain than ever that Primal is right for me (wish the weight loss was faster, though).

                        Totally blew it, and today I feel as dull and lethargic as if I had a hangover, but I don't drink, and I even went to bed at 9:30.

                          I stayed primal, but definitely indulged. I ate a lot of a sweet potato casserole, several sausage stuffed dates, few glasses of wine and turkey of course. I finished the evening off with some dark chocolate coconut ice cream. So, yes, lots of sugar and carbs, but a great feast day for sure.

                            I had a great primal dinner. Turkey, steamed brussels sprouts and baked yams and sweet potatoes with lots of butter. Made a pumpkin cheesecake but it wasn't sweet enough. Should have put more splenda in it. I suppose the only bad things were the tiny bit of Grand Marnier in the whipped cream and two glasses of Pinot Griggio. I'm not going to worry about it.
                            Female, 5'3", 50, Max squat: 202.5lbs. Max deadlift: 225 x 3.

                              I had no desire for any desserts. I had meatballs, salad, and turkey, and a little bit of stuffing! I was shocked how much I felt no temptation for desserts of any kind and I was so full on eating small portion sizes. I still feel like I gained 10 pounds just from looking that the food though! lol
                              I'm too stubborn to give up so I keep on trying.

                              You're never going to get to the top of the stairs if you don't walk up them.
