  • Help!!! A friend of mine who is a nurse is warning me about HFHP!

She insists that shes the medically educated person and im just going off google and websites. I have told her to come here and reserch, Ive told her to check out taubes, dr eades, fat head...but she still swears im wrong....she said the magic word "give me medical document PROVING its safe". So thats why i came here because i knew you guys could point me in the right direction.

ps i CAVED and ate oatmeal with peanut butter this morning. Did i ruin everything? I just get freaked my self that "what if sisson is wrong? and taubes, and eades, and naughton".

You guys always help alot. Let me know!!!

Why do you care what she thinks? Arguing will just up your stress levels.

You've been doing this for a few months, how do you feel?

So what? If it's unhealthy (cuz eating whole, natural foods all day long is totally unhealthy) at least you'll die happy with a steak in your teeth! Meanwhile, she'll die of cancer and depression from her chem-laden lean cuisine

Not all nurses are like that .I am a nurse and don't think conventionally.Give her some information and the links for here. Not much else you can do.Unfortunately ,unless us medical people learn to think outside the box and start to question conventional wisdom, we don't get that information in school. We essentially get the Conventional Medical model..I owe it to myself and patients to think outside the conventional medical world

don't let other people dictate what you think or base what you eat on what you prove to HER. Sounds like you need to re-do your research and teach yourself why a paleo/primal diet is healthy.

Remind her that the CW medical training she received is, in part, responsible for 2/3rds of Americans being fat and over half of Americans being on at least one prescription medication. Also advise her to stop parroting what she sees and hears from the CW crowd and start thinking for herself. If that doesn't work, ignore her and do what you know is right.

Give your friend the book, "Wheat Belly," written by Cardiologist Wm Davis, and send her my links by Dr. Davis, below.
Dr. Davis gives irrefutable evidence that SHE is dead wrong, and YOU are exactly right.
                http://lowcarbage.com/blog/2011/09/0...y-book-review/

Also give her these 2 links:
The Heart Scan Blog | Measure, track, and reduce coronary atherosclerotic plaque
Wheat Belly | Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight

Here is another good link for her, excerpts from Robb Wolff's book:
How to Keep Feces Out of Your Bloodstream (or Lose 10 Pounds in 14 Days)

If she is a nurse, then she is likely Brain Washed on the FDA Food Pyramid. She is not allowed to vary from that or she could be fired.
So be sympathetic to her arguments, but just IGNORE HER, nod your head and say Uh Huh. Your bowl full of oatmeal by the way was the same as a bowl full of jelly beans. It caused a HUGE spike in your insulin, which if repeated enough times will give you diabetes.

                Best to you,
                Grizz

Thank you for all that. i just told her. I caved in to the oatmeal because i am terrified what if my cholesterol is high and this messes me up? also i was having anxiety from carb withdrawls.... trembly, jittery, light headed, fatigued... etc etc. i have no health insurance so i dont know my blood levels. i just know that 3 to 4 years ago my cholesterol levels were excellent according to my doc and i was eating bread and the whole shabang. but i know numbers can change...

I travel a lot so I understand how difficult it can be when you are on the road. Don't get too bogged down in the "ideal" primal lifestyle and diet. While things like grass feed meat is great, I have not always been able to get it. And while you may be forced to eat something from the local grocery store, you can still stay primal in the kinds of food you eat and bypass the carbs. Remember the 80/20 idea in the PB book. Do the best you can and even if you eat the occasional bowl of oatmeal or the meat you are eating is not grassfed, if you avoid the processed shit, you are still light-years ahead of most Americans.

Whom are you talking to Bosnic? If it is me, I think annoying is in my job description somewhere and I'm very good in my job. Try using the quote feature next time you respond to someone "annoying" so we know who you are talking about.

A thread is the topic created on a forum. Replies are just that, replies. Notice the "Reply to thread" button?

It was quite obvious I was talking to the thread creator (I said Your threads). Unless you somehow claim ownership of this thread... which would be strange.
