  • Survival Week Part Deux- 1/11 to 1/15

Week 2 of a 3 week survival session.

Time to really rough it out. Things aren't looking so good for Grok. Winter's coming and food is getting scarce.

    Guidelines:

    1) No alcohol, dairy, chocolate, or "treats."

    2) Carbs below 50.

    3) IF one meal per day.

    3b) Or try going Carnivore.

    4) Use only what you already have in your kitchen. No new groceries.

How many can you follow? Can you take them all on at the same time? Can you survive?

My meals are getting so boring! This week I've got steak, shephards pie, meatloaf, almond flour pizza, and DH wants me to make a "real" lasagna. I'll make it because I don't want him eating McDonalds for lunches but I won't be having any of it.

Today I had deviled eggs, chicken pesto, green beans, and shrimp. oh and an apple with almond butter.

No treats, no sweetener of any kind, no fruit, no nuts, no milk (I'll try). One dinner-to-dinner IF.

Count me in, although I confess that this cavegirl raided the local shop for fresh provisions!

The most treat-like thing I have is half a dozen clementines.

          Otherwise, the usual for me

          Good luck everyone!

Count me in Last week didn't work out so well. Still had some friends in town for 'holidays' so needless to say there was wine and beer consumption and perhaps a french fry or six...

This week, I am going to focus on:

              -No alcohol

-No new groceries (I am addicted to grocery shopping I think.. haha)

              -No eating out

              -IF one meal per day

-No eating past 7pm (I am a serious late night binger)

I started in a Triathlon club this week, so my fitness will be swims and bikes and runs! whoop! I may try to sneak in the odd core session, or weights session for overall fitness!

                  I'm in.

Today went well. I'm sure my carbs were over 50 though.

At church we had brunch with the Quaker congregation that uses our building after our service. Everybody brought a dish to pass. I took roasted carrots and onions, which were a big hit. There were fruit and veggie trays, deviled eggs, bacon, cheeses. Of course they had brownies, muffins, pancakes and other stuff like that, but I was able to eat pretty well with only Primal foods. I did go back for seconds though, but not a lot.

Skipped lunch and went right to work. I did nibble a little towards the end of my shift. Mostly mushrooms and pulled pork. A couple bites of steak when I could get it.

I think I'm gonna skip dinner. Not really hungry. I do think I'm going to have a nice glass of home-made kombucha though. I REALLY need to find some gallon jars with spigots. They have the sun tea ones, but they've all got gaudy designs on them.

Ok, I'm going to do this really modified--can't even be called survival week really. But I'm going to post it here just b/c it totally motivates me.

This week, I am going to focus on:

                    -No chocolate, no tubers

-IF every other day or go carnivore

-eat 2 or 3 separate meals a day and 1 (small) snack at the max (keep my between meal snacking to a minimum)

-no more than 100 g carbs a day (like I said, really modified)

Hope you don't mind I'm doing it this way!! Thanks for having me folks!

Fairy that's what survival week is all about. When I started doing it, it mainly was to serve the purpose of cutting down on dairy. Tailor to however you want.

Today I've got hard boiled eggs, shrimp, kale, apple, radishes, and tonight I will probably make my almond flour pizza along with DH's "real" lasagna. Will post carbs tonight.

I love my almond crust pizza. I can't remember where I got it from. The sauce is a recipe I got from SoG's blog though.

                              Crust

                              3 cups almond flour

                              3 eggs

                              3 tsp olive oil

                              2 tsp salt

Mix together and form into pizza shape. Make sure to use a non stick surface because this stuff sticks. Bake on 350 for 15 minutes. Put all your sauce and toppings on it and bake for another 15.

                              Sauce

1 can tomato paste (add water to desired thickness)

                              1 tsp basil

                              1 tsp oregano

Heat on the stove and let simmer for a few minutes while crust is baking.
