  • Food You Love Even Though It's Not Primal

I was thinking of the thread the other day that was along the lines of "What tweaks have you made.." and how the thread got to the point of "I eat _____, cuz F-- you, THAT'S WHY!"
So I was wondering what your secret pleasures are, even though they may not be primal? This thread is meant for fun, so try not to get your panties in a bunch.
    I'll start.

I love Peanut Butter & Co's pb! The 3 of us go through a small jar in a month.
I love Popcornopolis (definitely NOT Primal, but so @#$^ delicious!)
Milky Way Midnight (I don't remember the last time I had one, but you better believe I'll be combing Grace's Halloween bag after she goes trick or treating, LOL)

    Your turn!

(ignoring all the blah blah "You were doing so good, why would you eat this stuff?!" comments. Cuz F-- you, THAT'S WHY! *cackle*
See what you've turned me into *evil grin*)

This thread means that inside you resent the limitations of the PB.

peanut butter is my big one...but it has to be a good brand of natural peanut butter. i can't really stomach the jiff and skippy of the world anymore.
but, on occasion, i'll find myself craving and indulging in pretty much any kind of pie or cookie.

...and tortilla chips. damn, now i want nachos.

Brownies. I don't make them, but I have a friend who does. It's worth the "cheat."

My father was ... a drinker, and a fiend. And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not -- one -- bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me, and he says, "Why so serious?" He comes at me with the knife. "Why so serious?!" He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Let's put a smile on that face!" And... that's why I used food as security. I built up a layer of fat to keep him away. I still indulge in sweets to this day.

This surprises you... why? LOL. I resent limitations, period. Ask me how pissed I was after my last race when I finished last b/c of an injury. *Boomhauer King of the Hill voice* talk'n'bout ol'bodily limitations, man

Yay, a fellow peanut butter lover! Have you tried Peanut Butter & Co? My favorite flavor has an ingredient list of peanuts, cane juice, vanilla, cocoa butter, palm fruit oil, lecithin (from sunflowers), and salt.

I love all sorts of fruit-based sweets. Cherries Jubelee, and basically any combo of sweet and sour, with a bit of pastry, likecobblers, crumblers, turnowers and pies. I also like jams a lot. Condensed milks, butterscotch and caramels are my other to go to flavors (so toffees and fudges). From savory stuff, pringles (haven't have those in years), pretzels, dark bread and Ryvita. I love potatoes with pickles. Pasta or hot cereals with milk. (Shrug) there are a lot of things I love that are not primal.

grumpy, i love ya. like the kind of love that makes you feel uneasy. the kind of love that makes you feel the need to peek out the window at night and check to see if you really really locked all the doors and windows. the kind of love that makes you want to carry a knife just to get the mail

                    that kind of love

No, Grumpy, it just means we're having fun. You might try Googling the concept sometime.

I just bought some dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds at Trader Joe's. And you can't have any. Because I'm going to eat them all.

Pomegranate seeds are more of my thing when suspended in Chobani Greek yogurt anyway

                          Why so srs?

Really, though, you're having fun by fantasizing about food that makes you feel guilty. That's not a good sign. Trust me, I know.

The longer I am primal, the more frequently I find myself disappointed with non-primal meals that I indulge in. I had Indian food this week - which used to be something I adored. It was good - but I was more than happy to be back to my primal meals the next day.

There is one major exception to this rule - sushi!!! It never, ever fails to be worth it

ETA: heavy cream, Fage yogurt, and good quality cheese - which I try not to eat - are also fricking amazing whenever I have them.

Using low lectin/nightshade free primal to control autoimmune arthritis. (And lost 50 lbs along the way )

Seriously, nobody else has seen The Dark Knight??

Favorite non-primal foods are pizza, Mexican food, hummus, bagels w/cream cheese, brownies, ice cream, fudge. Happily, all I've had since fully committing to primal eating is a few servings of hummus, and I don't tend to have any desire to have most of them... particularly when I recall my last blood sugar reading after eating a bagel :P
