  • The Monster truth?

Looking for some Primal input on the Monster Energy "Zero" drinks. Says it has zero cals, zero grams of sugar, zero grams of carbs, etc etc.

What gives? It has to be to good to be true? I know these kinds of drinks are not primal what so ever, but if you just had to have it, how would this one stand in the primal community?

Please be nice, I am new to the forum

This usually means it has 0 nutrition.

Better than full sugar, but it has so many suspicous ingredients, I would definately keep it in my 20.

It's best to avoid artificial sweeteners, especially if you're trying to lose fat. They give you a sweet tooth that will bite you in the ass.
Ye shall know them by their fruits.

The drug cartel has you tied to a chair and is pouring it down your throat.

            or

You're in the middle of a desert and have nothing to drink. You're about to succomb to dehydration, when you uncover a can in the sand.

Any other reason than that just means you need to pull your head out of your ass and go get yourself a glass of water.

              ERYTHRITOL,

              TAURINE,

              CAFFEINE,
              SORBIC ACID,

              BENZOIC ACID,
              NIACINAMIDE,
              ACESULFAME POTASSIUM,
              SODIUM CHLORIDE,
              GLUCURONOLACTONE,
              INOSITOL,
              GUARANA SEED EXTRACT,
              PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE,
              RIBOFLAVIN,

              CYANOCOBALAMIN.

ARE YOU JOKING ? ? You can't be serious.

I would NEVER pour this crap down my throat ! I suggest you drink water flavored with real lemon juice, or drink tea unsweetened. Whatever you decide to drink, it should be natural, and not a concoction of chemicals.

Obviously you missed the episode where Bear Gryllis (sp?) purified his own urine in the middle of Death Valley. I think I'd rather do that than touch a can of Monster!

Those things are hell on your kidneys. I disagree that's they're not as bad as real sugar! If I wanted sweet caffeine I'd MUCH sooner get a tea or espresso and put a packet or two of raw sugar in it than drink an energy drink. (But I think all artificial sweeteners are terrible and would rather do without sweet than consume any of them in any amount).

How in god's name can someone ask this question unless they know nothing whatsoever about Primal? I mean, seriously! That's like asking if McDonald's non-dairy "milk" shakes are OK on PB because they don't contain dairy....
If you are new to the PB - please ignore ALL of this stuff, until you've read the book, or at least http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/ and this (personal fave): http://www.archevore.com/get-started/

Lol, the taste is just nasty i used to drink those way before primal when I was doin chronic cardio. Its all bad news besides all the bad stuff
in the ingredients, I did consume a lot of artificial sweetners back then, trying to live very low fat and "sugar free" so much that my kidneys were inflammed. Avoid it if u can.

I used to drink the low-carb monsters all the time pre-primal, they are so addicting. When I drank the real big cans, I would pee green (no joking).

I substituted them with kombucha, which is way better for you.
