  • Butter.... primal?

    Am I getting this right? I have read on here people eats and recommends butter, but the btter I know and sold in stores down here is made of "cream of milk and salt", and as far as i know dairies are not primal. I am confused.

    It depends on the individual. I don't know many who don't include butter in their diet. Many, like myself are lactose and/or casein intolerant. We do not do well with dairy. I love cheese but tend to breakout. However, I do just fine with butter and whey. Try it yourself and see how you react.

      I didn't eat butter, cream or cheese for 10 years. I used low fat spreads and fully skimmed milk. I got fat.

      I eat butter, cream, cheese now. No milk. I got lean.

      I try to get any dairy as raw as possible. For me it's a convenient, tasty and 'f*ck you' source of animal fat. It's Primal for me.

          dairy is not paleo...primal is different. mark recommends butter as a great source of fat. grass fed is obviously better than conventional, but you can get by on either.

            Paleo is just a set of guidelines, a way to look at food. Was butter consumed by hunter-gatherers? No. Can it still be very healthy? Absolutely.

                The idea is to emulate the nutritional profile of an ancestral diet for optimal health, not to be the caveman version of the SCA. Good quality grassfed butter is a (relatively) affordable way to get quality animal fats, including CLA.

                  Butter is delicious. Eat some!
                  I've tried Strauss Creamery Butter, Kerrygold, and Darigold Chef's Choice. The latter is my favorite.

                      It is primal for me and a great way to get some extra fat with good nutrients. I also include some raw cheddar and heavy cream in my diet in small quantities. These 3 things make me happy and I don't plan on ever cutting them out.

                            primal = paleo

                            No difference.
