  • Dumb (?) question...

Paleo is supposed to take us back to the "beginning"...right? And Paleo compared to modern life was simple...right?

So why is Primal Nutrition, when I read it here, so complicated?

    Just curious...

    There are no dumb questions.

Only stupid morons like Grok who rants about "freedom" and Ron Paul, and so on, but funds fascist chinese slavers.

Start hiking up into the Canadian Rockies far from civilization, using only your wits and hunting tools+skills, gathering skills, etc... to live. Then things will be simple because there aren't many choices, live or die based on what you come across (or what comes across you).

Back here in civilization, which I doubt you are trying to flee, there are tons of choices, many bad. So much of the complexity is training people how to stay clear of the bad choices in order to get something that comes close. The more choices one has, and the more prevailing bad influences from the recent decades, the more complicated it is.

Oh, and people themselves are complicated because everyone is different genetically. So there is that too.

But quite frankly, once you have been doing it long enough, it becomes no longer complicated.

        Just the way it is.

Wow, now you are hijacking everyone else's threads (I must have really touched a sensitive nerve.) For the record, I don't fund any government owned companies in China.

It doesn't need to be complicated; some people make it that way.

The longer you are here, you will notice two distinct categories of folks: the Science Groks and the Zen Groks.

The Science Groks like to track and analyze data and like double-blind studies .... a lot.

The Zen Groks are more about getting in touch with their bodies and the changing seasons, tend to be more guided by intuition, and say F the numbers.

Each camp shakes their head in dismay at the other.

Sounds like you might be a Zen Grok, eh?

If so, it's simple: eat animals and plants when hungry, sleep a lot, get some sun, play more, go outside and move around and lift some things, avoid drama and danger.

Nice classifications! I admit that I rely heavily on the Science Groks, so that I can take what they've learned and use it to live as a Zen Grok. Is that terribly sneaky? I don't know how to pay back the Science Groks for their contributions! I feel like a thief!

Good synopsis TigerLily. Puts me firmly in the Zen group I guess.

It's become difficult because we now have so much damaging crap to consume.

It's not hard. Eat real food, nothing in a bag or a box.

That's simple, and I like it. This is pretty much how I live (with the exception of an unpleasant side excursion into the world of protein powder...another post). I am definitely in the Zen camp!

                      Thanks.

It's complicated because there are so many products in the grocery store that Grok didn't have to choose from. He ate what he could catch, trap, or harvest. Just go down the produce aisle and the meat counter. Stop there and check out. Much more simple.

It's not complicated, as I explained in the 'soul of primal' thread.

it's just that people that have been born into a life of comfort and weakness have grown accustomed to having even the most basic needs of life placed in the hands of an 'authority', divorcing them of their god given intuition and animal-humanity. so they just can't believe that EATING FOOD, MOVING, and LIVING are things that come naturally, things that you don't have to pay someone 100$ per session to resolve.

p.s. While this isn't one of them, stupid questions do exist. The question a man asks reveals where his mind is at the moment. Also, the stupidest man in the world can ask a question that the smartest man in the world can't answer. If you're sitting in a dynamics class and a student asks a stupid question, right away you realize that he has no understanding of the material.
