• Survival Week 1/4 to 1/8

Let's start the new year out right!

Time to really rough it out. Things aren't looking so good for Grok. Winter's coming and food is getting scarce.

    Guidelines:

    1) No alcohol, dairy, chocolate, or "treats."

    2) Carbs below 50.

    3) IF one meal per day.

    3b) Or try going Carnivore.

    4) Use only what you already have in your kitchen. No new groceries.

How many can you follow? Can you take them all on at the same time? Can you survive?

I'm in for no alcohol or chocolate, carbs below 50, and no new groceries (I just went grocery shopping so that will be easy).

      Count me in

All 4, bar a splash of milk in up to 2 cups of tea.

Let's see how long my slow-cooked brisket will last!

I'm thinking about #1. Ehh, maybe not. I'm already doing #2. I've been doing 24hr fast every third day. Essentially that's the same as #3. I'm trying to do that for a month. Almost there. If I didn't have kids, I think I could do #4. Like the idea, fun post DCKMB.

I'm in! Carnivore, 1 meal per day. No 'treats' ie almond butter, dark chocolate, coconut milk. I might have to hang on to the coffee though.

Ah fantastic Finally some external motivation to be good! #1, #2, #3, and #4 are all good (luckily I just went grocery shopping today!).

I'm all in. Paychecks are short lately, so I'm all about using what's in my kitchen. Hopefully I can re-stock the pantry in a month or so. It'll be exciting to see how long I can make my provisions last.

Thought I'd post my menu for the week. There may be slight changes depending on how I'm feeling and what my parents will eat!

                    4th: chicken cesear salad

5th: asian meatballs (dumplings without wrappers) dipped in ginger sauce with a gingery salad.

6th: pork tenderloin and salad with pineapple dressing.

7th: spaghetti squash lasagna with pomegranate salad (my mom really wants to try the lasagna, so I hope she likes it! gulp!)

8th: prime rib with horseradish califlower mash (I've never made prime rib before, but had it for New Years Eve and thought... why don't I make this EVERY DAY?!? lol) and salad with grapefruit dressing

Ok, now lets see how I can do.

The more I see the less I know for sure.

Brisket was amazing, I piled my plate high but my eyes are bigger than my belly (that's a GOOD thing!).

Other than that, today I've nibbled on some pork belly/crackling and had a handful of pistachios.

Got some chicken legs in the oven for packed lunch tomorrow (I'd happily skip lunch but that attracts attention from colleagues)

Hope everyone has a good day!

I'm going to try doing lem's modified version (I'm nursing too), minus the no new groceries (I NEED to go shopping badly--don't even have meat.) Excited a/b this!!!! Woo hoo!

I can totally do this, but I also, have barely anything in the house. Gotta make a quick, perimeter-only run to the store!!

                            IF 1 meal a day.

Carbs between 50-75 (I have been trying to work more veggies in, as I find when I go completely carnivore I tend to want to binge)

I need this like nobodies business!

I'd be down, but I have access to $.59 half gallons of the best raw pasture-raised grass-fed milk I've ever had, and I am too poor to not utilize this food source.
