Regarding the video above...does anybody know of any doctors in the Chicago area that do this stool analysis?

      Hi curreh,
Can I recommend a book which I have found to be really useful? It's called "Adrenal Fatigue" and is written by James L.Wilson.
I read it earlier this year after being ill and I had a light-bulb moment when I recognised myself in his description of someone with Adrenal Fatigue. So I admit that I self-diagnosed but I have followed the recommendations in the book, especially on supplements and I also went to see a fantastic acupuncturist. Both of those things combined with trying my best to follow the Primal eating recommendations has made a huge difference to me.
And for the constipation I recommend a Vit C supplement with bioflavenoids. Solgar Hy-Bio is good.

Yeah I thought it might have to do something with my thyroid for a long time hermanda, but at the moment my doctor firmly believes that it's the adrenals that are the root of the problem, which in turn make it hard for my thyroid, so I'm waiting on a bunch of supplements for adrenal fatigue

In the mean-time though I'm getting my stomach right, ordering a pro-biotic I heard of from the states called "Flora-Balance" The people that make it apparently deal with CFS a lot and lots of people have been helped very much by it. It makes sense of all my nutrient deficiencies and sensitive stomach that something could be wrong in my stomach. Many people have marked beginnings of bad health it seems when they take anti-biotics, or some other event happens that destroys the gut flora and then they go through very bad health.

So I'm going to try fixing my gut by re-committing to very low carb without any sugars, I'm not too sure what fruits I can eat whilst doing this? Was watching the gut-sense video and they were talking about starving out any candida/yeast in the stomach from sugars. And then add in all the veges I can, fat instead of carbs for energy, probiotics, nutrient supplements and sauerkraut Any other suggestions for fixing my gut?
        All sounds really good.

I second the rec for the Adrenal Fatigue book, I found that helpful (I have somewhat similar issues).

Oh wow! yes I just ordered that book a few days ago after the advice from my specialist who currently believes my CFS is, or is being caused by, adrenal fatigue. It's coming in the mail sometime next week with a bunch of supplements for my adrenals

Is the vitamin c supplement like a powder? I probably can't get that brand here in Australia so could you describe it? ;P Thanks so much you two

Going to make the sauerkraut and kale chips today to use those for any snacking, will help for getting lots of veges in me and for the gut flora

For me personall<, increasing the vegetables = fiber isn´t a solution for my constipation. it doesn´t always help to add bulk when you are already constipated. I feel that keeping starches above 100g/day, limiting fruit and dairy and eating enough fat with every meal is a first step into the right direction for me (oh, and high doses if Vitamin C, like someone here recommended, seems to help)! I would somewhat limit fiber intake until things work fine again, than add more and see how much you tolerate...

              Hi again curreh,

When you get James Wison's book you will see in the supplement section that he recommends Vitamin C combined with bioflavenoids. He recommends dosing on day 1 every hour until stools become loose. That is the level of supplementation that you need to start off with. That is how I realised that Vit C & bioflavenoids can "get things moving". The brand I bought is Solgar Hy-Bio which was the closest I could find to Wilson's recommendation. Here's a link to the product Hy-BioŽ Tablets (500 mg Vitamin C with 500 mg Bioflavonoids) Solgar Vitamins, Minerals, and Herbs.

Sonnenblume is quite correct in saying that fibre is not always the answer to constipation. It will only really help is lack of bulk to the stool is the problem that causes the constipation. If that isn't the problem that adding fibre could make it worse. There are so many causes to constipation that you will have to experiment to find what helps yours. Bear in mind that everyone's "habits" are different and some people go every day and some people only a few times a week.
