Butter. Anything else is about a molecule away from being plastic.

BUTTER!!!!! Anything else is junk or "fake" IMHO. Or use bacon fat, coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil...

Please tell me I'm wrong or over-reacting - I eat bacon but don't like using bacon grease as I feel it contains stuff other than bacon fat (ie whatever it was cured with) - am I paranoid?

Butter, butter, butter. Look for the pastured stuff if you can find it. Olive oil and coconut oil are also good choices.
