  • Post your lipid panel results here!!!

If you have lipid tests, please share. Include any and all relevant info (sex, age, height, weight, how long on PB, any thing else you can think of). If you have it, post a "before PB" panel as well. I'll go first:

    Male
    36 (in Aug)
    5'9"
    145

    Test date - 7/15/11 (7/19/10)
    TC 155 (138)
    LDL 90 (64)
    HDL 39 (33)
    TG 130 (203)
    VLDL 26 (41)

Found this website in May and have eliminated refined carbs and significantly reduced grains and increased fats since then.

    6'1"
    93kgs
    roughly 8-10% body fat
    Primal for 8 - 10 months
    Test date 1/7/11

The results of my test are as follows:
    Total Cholesterol = 9.56 mmol/l or 369.60 mg/dl
    Triglyceride = 0.88 mmol/l or 34.029 mg/dl
    HDL = 2.64 mmol/l or 102.088 mg/dl
    Chol/HDL ratio 3.6 mmol/l
LDL = 6.5 mmol/l or 251.35 mg/dl (prob according to friedewald) or 5.74 according to Iranian

Doctor is worried about my high LDL results. Think I will be going to get a VAP done.

@josh_mc How are you converting from mmol/L to mg/dl? Are you using an online tool?

faredoon, if it helps, your LDL was not measured by calculated using the Friedewald equation, which is a linear approximation to a non-linear phenomenon and down to be inaccurate when trigs are low or high. A better approximation for low trigs is given by the Iranian equation, which gives LDL of 3.4 for your numbers

Paul Jaminet (perfecthealthdiet.com) has also done some research on lipid levels of those on ancestral diets and reckons the sweet spot for longevity to be around 5-6mmol/L, which means you're doing fine

Also, of all of the ratios that you can calculate from a standard lipid panel, the most indicative of artherogenicity is probably the Trig/HDL ratio, which should be less than 2 if measured in mg/dL or less than 0.9 if measured in mmol/L. Yours is around 0.4

Four years Primal with influences from Jaminet & Shanahan and a focus on being anti-inflammatory. Using Primal to treat CVD and prevent stents from blocking free of drugs.

Eat creatures nose-to-tail (animal, fowl, fish, crustacea, molluscs), a large variety of vegetables (raw, cooked and fermented, including safe starches), dairy (cheese & yoghurt), occasional fruit, cocoa, turmeric & red wine

I've posted this several times recently, but you asked...

                Cholesterol Nov 2009 249 June 2013 221 (-28)
                HDL Nov 2009 62 June 2013 85 (+23)
                Triglycerides Nov 2009 118 June 2013 48 (-70)
                LDL Nov 2009 163 June 2013 129 (-34)

The June numbers are after 1 year of Primal. I am currently 170 pounds (47 yo F 5'7"), lost 22 pounds over the last year and improved many issues with skin, GI, and joint pain. I eat no dairy except for HWC. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis for which I take Synthroid. Currently trying to correct low serum protein (by eating more protein), vitamin D deficiency (10,000 IU's daily), and fatigue (by eating more of everything Primal...my appetite has been very suppressed for several months). I would like to drop about 20 pounds or so, but I don't care how much I weigh as long as I can do pullups. I'm getting there.
As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again.

People should also post their ratios as well: TotalChol/HDL, Trigs/HDL and LDL/HDL.
Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

Female, 31, 5'4", 136 pounds (was maybe a few pounds heavier when I got the blood test), had been primal for about a year by the time of the test in April 2013.

                    April 2013
                    Total cholesterol: 156 mg/dL
                    HDL: 76 mg/dL
                    LDL: 69 mg/dL
                    triglycerides: 54 mg/dL
                    Total chol/HDL = 2.05
                    Trigs/HDL = 0.71
                    LDL/HDL = 0.91

                    Pre-primal:
                    May 2009
                    HDL: 62 mg/dL
                    LDL: 59 mg/dL
                    triglycerides: 106 mg/dL
                    Trigs/HDL = 1.71
                    LDL/HDL = 0.95
