    Hi Nicole,

This thread has not been active for a while.
Dr. Kruse has his own website and forum.
You might want to post your question there: Jack Kruse Optimal Forum

        I got real nice tan.
Have ended at 1mg total, I did not want any darker tan.

My skin is white again, but it took somewhat longer than usual to get there.

I am about ready to open another vial with 1mg Melanotan.

        Any comments???

        Do you mean 10mg broken into 20 x .5mg ?

How's the cold thermogenesis been working out for you?

        • What a great thread! Learning lots.

I've been attempting low carb since 2006. It started with Atkins, followed in succession with South Beach, Primal, Paleo. I kept crashing on each of my attempts. My evening hunger was killing me. The obvious solution was to eat more during the day. Admittedly, I hated breakfast and was lacking sorely with it.

When I came across the leptin reset, initially I scoffed. That was a lot to eat at breakfast, let alone 50grams of protein!.

However, today is day 8. I'm still going and my evening hunger is gone! Who knew I have 100 lbs to lose (give or take a few lbs). In the 8 days I've lost 7.2 lbs. Actually, It was 8 lbs but I started ovulating 2 days ago and I gained .6lbs. Nothing changed in my diet. Them hormones eh!

I've had my blood work taken over the years. Most recently a year ago. My TSH is "high" and so are my trigs. I live in no mans land where medical care is ... not what we need. I had to argue to get my cortisol levels taken. He did hesitantly, taken at 3 separate times in the day. It was low all across the board and near negligible in the morning. He didn't know what to tell me about that. He wanted to prescribe me eltroxin (t4) and steroids. I kindly declined!

I'm still dead tired in the morning. But, by mid morning my energy level is through the roof. My bedtime routine could be more tight (emf problems) and my sleep is not as deep and restorative as it could be.

I'm actually excited to see where this will take me. I haven't eaten breakfast in any real substantive quantity since I was 13. I felt like I was going to puke the first couple of days. By the 3rd day I woke up ravenous for my meal. Changes abound

Anyway, great thread! Love the conversations. What a valuable site!

Edit: I don't know how to update my signature, its out of date! Family has been paleo since that time and no one has weight or health issues, except me!

            • Thanks! It is going great! I finished week 5 this past Wednesday. At that point I weighed 240.4. I'm not sure if I'm happy about this new point though. When my body wakes up at 515am and tells me to get up, try as I might, I can't go back to sleep. So I gotta get up and eat my big breakfast! The energy is awesome

The one thing that still gets me though is my cravings. I've been through one menstrual cycle and am approaching another in a weeks time. The cravings for chocolate. I started taking ionic magnesium about a week ago. I find that my results are screaming louder than my cravings though, so I've been able to avoid caving.

                • Are the cravings due to estrogen?
Are you at least having 90% (or more) dark chocolate?
Do keep using magnesium, though, and use more than one form.

                  • Not sure. I carry the bulk of my weight in my belly, does that mean anything?
I don't eat chocolate. For the leptin reset, my carbs have been coming from eggs and vegetables only (within my 25 carb allotment). I only get cravings the week before my cycle.

The magnesium seems to be helping.

The menstrual cycle is just so weird to me. I get really cold a week before my cycle, crave chocolate and nothing else. Not even really an appetite. But I keep sticking through the leptin reset. With the cycle coming up, my temperature is burning hot! And I can feel a surface wetness on my skin. Its very different from freezing all my life!

                    • I started exercising 3 times a week March 1. After all the markers were there (according to the list provided by dr. kruse). My weight loss stopped dead in its tracks. I've lost nothing for the month of March, except 1/4" off my hips. *shrugs*

                      • I can't read the whole thread but I wondered if anyone lasted the Leptin reset and then carried on to become optimal etc? The reason I ask is that I, too, tried it the Kruse way and tbh nothing changed much. I don't get hungry anyway but the more I stuck around his forum, the more I realised that actually there didn't seem to be that many who experienced permanent weight loss.

I've also noticed some contradictions, that the advice has changed, where once it was a big protein breakfast, that then seemed to become eating seafood, then it was oysters because they were the best thing on the planet, cold dunks were also important then suddenly EMF became the reason that folk can't lose weight and eventually it seemed to peak that actually, if you're fat and unwell, you should move. I don't believe it, which is a shame because for a while there I was persuaded it was the answer.

Has anyone here seen big improvements or did you all bomb out at some point? There seems to be two camps there, those who believe Kruse to be some sort of Messiah and those who aren't too sure that any of it makes sense. The standard advice pumped out seems to be buy the book, start the reset, buy up an expensive membership, submerge yourself in freezing water lol and ditch all your electronics and if that fails, move house. It's not a plan most people can manage I think.

                        • I respect Dr Kruse but acknowledge the difficulty of following his blog. I must say that following his leptin reset, cold thermogenesis and EMF protocols have been quite beneficial for me. Kruse is a forward thinker and publishes whatever is on his mind at the time. The burden is on the reader to keep up. I keep trying and learn a great deal along the way.

I think i want to try pork tenderloin, maybe it would be more tasty in the morning. maybe I'll just eat a half of a quiche every morning instead of a third and sausage or bacon. Dr. Kruse also makes smoothies with coconut milk, heavy cream and 2 raw eggs. That sounds not so yum to me and my blender is broken.
Would that be sufficient for 50grams protein?
