  • Bloated, tender abdomen... help!!!



    I've been primal for two weeks now, although I had some wheat on Saturday at a party, and yesterday I had a bad sugar splurge. And all of a sudden this morning I am incredibly bloated, and my abdomen is very tender and feeling constipated (sorry, I know its a bit too much information). I almost never get constipated, so please please help, I am so uncomfortable! I suppose my digestive track is use to relying on fibre, and yesterday's sugar splurge has caused havoc? What can I do?

    yes, it's probably from the sugar and the wheat. Sounds like what Dr. Davis calls "Wheat Belly"

    Have you ever been tested for Celiac?


    In the meantime, get some probiotics and avoid both grains and sugar.

      Both the wheat and the sugar could cause it. If it gets too painful, see a doctor, but it should pass on its own otherwise.

        I used to get terrible IBS before going primal. Some of your symptoms sound IBS related, especially as you've had wheat and sugar. If it gets really painful, try ibuprofen to ease cramping.

          Is my post showing up in this thread? I see it when I log on but it's not showing up when I log out. Do I not have a "voice"? I thought I'd have one by now? I guess the board must be on moderation?

            Squirrel Jo - I found that after cutting out grains and trying to cut out sugar, I'm a lot more sensitive to it now. So even if you had a "noral" amount it could still have that dramatic effect.

                I used to have the same thing...really bad bloating (my hubby used to call it my "baseball" belly). Wheat and sugar absolutely cause it to flare-up.
