  • How to find LDL pattern A and B on a lipid test result?

A buddy showed me his results from a VAP, but I didn't see anything about pattern A (good LDL) or pattern B (bad LDL).

There's: HDL-P, small LDL-P, large VLDL-P, small LDL-P, large HDL-P, VLDL size (in nanometers), LDL size (nm), HDL size (nm).

Pattern A = large LDL, pattern B = small LDL.

That's just it: large LDL is not listed. There's large VLDL, is that it?

LDL-P are the small density (Bad) LDL's. My last Lipid Panel showed a count of total LDL, and then a count of small LDL-P amount. I assumed the "good" amount of large LDLs was simply subtracting the LDL-P from the total LDL. However, I see in your example that they list small LDL-P twice. Is that a typo?

No, sorry, it was from two different sections. All that's listed that's actually useful is:

          - large VLDL-P
          - small LDL-P
          - large HDL-P
          - VLDL size
          - LDL size
          - HDL size

Doesn't seem too useful though, then again he only sent me page 1 of 2. Where are triglycerides? And are "large VLDL-P" the large, fluffy (good) LDL?

Yeah, that's got to be the missing part. Demand page 2! Hahaha.
