  • Coconut oils

I've been using Nutiva organic coconut oil but I find that I can only use it for primal baking and in my coffee in the morning. It has a "coconut-y" flavour that permeates any food it's cooked in. I'm not a big fan of coconut flavoured eggs. Can anyone recommend any coconut oil that is organic, extra virgin, hexane free but flavourless? I really want to incorporate more of it into my diet. Thanks!

As I understand it extra virgin cannot be flavorless only refined can be flavorless. The spectrum brand has a nice refined one that's widely available. I could be wrong though, I'm sure others will have more experience and better suggestions.

What you want to look for on the label is "Deodorized" or "Non-Deodorized". Any oil that says "non-deodorized" will taste of coconut while the others will have a neutral taste. When I bought my first bottle of coconut oil I bought the deodorized without realizing it and it tasted like nothing (I like the nut of the coconut tree...).

whatever you do, dont buy refined. its heated up during processing so the nutritional profile is stomped on.

I despise the taste of coconut, so I use Tree of Life Organic Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil. It has no flavor at all!

Tropical Tradition's stuff is all primo. I recently bought 2 jars of their gold label CO, and it's great.

I'm also trying out different coconut oils, however I don't really find anything different from each brand... maybe I'm just not enough of a feinschmecker, lol
