  • Taste palate has changed -- bad food tastes too sweet

Anyone else notice this? For instance, I had a teaspoon of (lite!) Ragu pasta sauce and it tasted way too sweet. Like disgustingly sweet... I immediately knew it was not food. I can taste the sugar in everything now and it's not delicious.

The upside is that the taste of fruit has intensified. I could eat grape tomatoes all day.

I'm having a similar problem only with everything tasting super salty.

This is pretty well documented. Less taste for salt and sugar once you adjust. I was at a work function and to be polite I ate a milk chocolate truffle - it was very unpleasant, actually grossed me out.

I had a couple of sips of DH's coke zero yesterday. Tasted like full-sugar coke!

I still have a little sugar in my coffee, and a little honey on my greek yogurt, but I'm down to under a tablespoon a day total (part of my 20%), so I'm really noticing the natural sweetness in fruits, etc. too.

Although I'll probably never dislike sweet things, I have noticed my taste for salt is changing. It seems like everything prepared in restaurants is face-puckering salty. Ick.

Absolutely. Almost nothing I used to love tastes good anymore. I'm pretty much down to real cheesecake and real ice cream (no fake ingredients) as things I actually like. I can't even do ketchup anymore.

As for salt, I can't stand any amount of processed salt, but die for unrefined sea salt.

I find nearly all veggies sweet now - I haven't cheated on anything since I started 3 weeks ago, but carrots and peas seem exceptionally sweet to me now.

Ohmigosh, very favoritest apple meal is acorn or butternut squash with chopped apples & walnuts, glazed with lots of butter and spices (my favorite sweet spices are cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg).

Another meal I look forward to after Whole 30 is over

And Ohmigosh, shouldn't have said that. Now I can't stop thinking about apples & walnuts coated with delicious butter & spices *drooling*. Haven't had carbs in 2 days (doing a meat-only induction until the 15th). Fruit is looking more and more like a gateway drug.

Yeah. I've noticed the same when I've gone off sugar in the past (hoping to do so again, soon). When my sugar tolerance is lowered, back to a normal level, even carrots are sweet and I can almost not stand the sweetness of a banana. I've also noticed the same thing with salt. Nearly every cold cut or processed meat product tastes too salty for me now. It's only when you stop eating it you notice how much salt and sugar is actually added to all the "industrial" food people eat every day.
