  • What 10 True Vegetables Do You Consume Most?

I want to know what TRUE vegetables you consume. I am looking to expand my selection.

What the hell is a TRUE vegetable you ask?

Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onion, Garlic, Carrot, Asparagus, Sauerkraut, Artichoke, Seaweed, etc.

Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Zucchini, Squash, Avocado, Olives are NOT veggies since they have a SEED.

I can't wait to discover more veggies!
    Find me at aToadontheRoad.com. Cheers!

Edit - Damn, squash has seeds. Scratch that.

I just discovered swiss chard. It's inexpensive and pretty tasty.

Do mushrooms count? I know they're fungi but Portobellos and even button mushrooms fried in bacon fat are delish.

          Lettuces
          Broccoli
          Cauliflower
          Onions
          Avocado
          Brussels Sprouts
          Carrots
          Spinach
          Radishes
          Kohlrabi

Darn. I need to discover more True Vegetables, too. Thanks for pointing that out.

            broccoli
            cucumbers
            spinach
            onion
            cauliflower
            zucchini
spring mix (variety of mixed lettuces)
            carrots
            sweet potato

You cannot convince me that cucumbers and zucchini are not vegetables! I don't care how they're classified botanically, just how my body uses them nutritionally.

Like others, I gorge on broccoli, spinach, onions, garlic, mushrooms, cabbages and occasionally carrots. For "not vegetables" I often have peppers, zucchini, avocado and tomatoes

Is there anything particularly wrong with that, though?

Not at all! I just wonder where it got started. And I want to expand my vegetable selection.

                          Kale
                          Spinach
Other greens (Swiss Chard, Lance, etc.)
                          Mushrooms
                          Carrots
                          Parsnips
                          Asparagus
                          Onions
                          Cabbage
                          Broccoli

                          On occasion:
Sweet potatoes (usually thinly sliced and fried in bacon fat)
                          Green beans/peas
Cauliflower (usually in the form of cauliflower rice for curries)

I have access to many interesting vegetables since I live in a very Korean populated community, so I really need to do more exploring - thanks!

Carrots (or would that be a root?)
Onion (would be... well, an onion, not a veggie )
                            Broccoli

                            Those are ELEMTARY to me.

Kale, sweet potato, broccoli, kale, carrots, cabbage, kale, mushrooms, onion, and kale. I eat a lot of kale. My standard lunch is a baked sweet potato, steamed kale, lots of butter, and some protein source (usually boiled eggs or canned fish). I do eat a lot of peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini when they're in season since it's practically all you can get at the farmers market in the summer and my husband won't eat raw tomatoes.

                              Also, bacon is a vegetable (There's also a t-shirt)
