sautee garlic in olive oil + butter on medium, add kale, turn up heat a bit, add chicken broth & white wine, cover. Turn down heat to simmer & let it cook for like 15 or 20 min, stirring occassionally.

Steamed over boiling salted water, maybe 5-10 minutes, don't overcook. Top with salt, pepper, maybe some olive oil and pepper vinegar.

My husband doesn't like chard and most of my dinners are ones for the both of us. I can get him to trim, chop, and wash a bunch of kale, but if I were going to make chard for myself I'd have to prep it myself. I do eat it when he's away, though. I like the pretty colors.

As far as kale goes, I mostly just steam it until tender. I never eat it raw. Then I toss it with fat (butter or bacon grease), sometimes with some garlic lightly sauteed in. I've also made creamed kale with mushrooms when I'm feeling complicated. I also put cooked kale in leftovers-omelets. I prefer red kale to other forms -- the scent of it raw is really beautiful, I think.

garlic, onion, lettuce, greens, broccoli, cauli, sweet potatos, asparagus. Everything else apparently doesn't qualify.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, steak in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Holy F***, What a Ride!"
