  • starbucks - heavy whipping cream?

I am doing fasting bloodwork today for cholesterol and thyroid and plan to stop at Starbucks afterward since I have a gift card. I almost never go to Starbucks these days, but when I did I used to get an Americano and add a little half and half to it.

Does anyone know if I can order it with HWC instead?

I know they have whipped cream, but that also has many pumps of their sugar laden vanilla syrup in it.

Just wondering if anyone knows if they have it. Otherwise, I might take a little coconut milk with me to add!

It depends on which one you go to. The one near my house will use HWC if requested (I think it's called a breve), but the one in the bookstore the next town over didn't have any. From what I've seen, if it's a solo Starbucks, you can get it with HWC, but if it's in a bookstore or part of another store, you're SOL.

My Starbucks has it. Breve just means add cream and they usually add half&half if you say breve. You have to specifically ask for heavy cream.

In my opinion, coffee with an add shot is far superior to an Americano.

In UK Starbucks will give you a jug of unwhipped whipping (heavy)cream instead of the same dispensed out of their NO2 whippers. (to which they always add syrup)

Caffe Nero the only chain coffee house not to add syrup.

Like em so much I now have my own NO2 whip machine! Very Paleo!

I had to give up the Americanos and go back to drip coffee. Venti Americanos have 25 calories and 4g sugar each black.

How could an Americano of any size have sugar in it? It's just espresso cut with water.

It SHOULD be. This is Fourbucks, home of the Big Gulp Frappucino.

I'm going to do that from now on (though I go to Starbucks maybe 2x per year). I can't figure out how they get 4 grams of sugar in an Americano - espresso/water???

Anyway, on a good note, they did have the HWC!

At home I either add HWC or coconut milk, so I'll just go back to that. For rare visits to Starbucks, at least I know I can get HWC...

that's 4g of carbohydrate, and zero sugars. Their website says there are 5 calories and >1 g of carbs in an 8 oz Americano. Turns out coffee has trace calories caused by the natural oils in the beans. From here....http://www.ineedcoffee.com/09/not-calorie-free/

Most Starbucks I've been to (I live in CT) have HWC behind the counter so I order my tea with "a shot of heavy cream please"

I like a double macchiato with whole milk. This is NOT the sugar-laden caramel macchiato. A real macchiato is just a dab of foam on top of the espresso (imagine an ultra-ultra dry cappuccino). I like the little taste of milk, but it's so tiny an amount as to barely affect the nutritional count. I'd order it con panna (with whipped cream), but there's that stupid syrup in the whipped cream.

Is that only for espresso? I belive that drip coffee still have zero regardless of the amount. If I have too many Americanos it bumps me out of ketosis but I seem to be able to drink unlimited coffee and stay in ketosis.

While understand the reason for the calories (oil) that doesn't explain the carbs. Oil doesn't have carbs.
