  • One meal a day?

Hey sorry I haven't introduced myself yet but was wondering if anyone eats 1 giant meal a day and thats it? I have known others that do it but I can't seem to stuff myself passed 1.5lbs of meat especially if its a nice fatty cut. Also how do I get myself to eat more at a sitting? I want to be able to pack away 2-3lbs but can't seem to do it. I am a large male so it shouldn't be an issue.
    thanks

Pack in enough fat during the meal, and you'll be golden. Timing is really helpful, too. If you are awake 12-14 hours of the day, and can hold off eating until you've been awake for 6-7 hours, eat your big meal, and go to bed 6-7 hours later, you've got it.

I don't know if one meal a day has any metabolic advantages over, say, a 6-8 hour eating window with a daily 16-18 hour IF. It seems like most of the IF people here eat at least 2 meals daily.

I've done a dinner to dinner fast before. I just couldn't fit enough food in my stomach when I first ate, and wound up eating a second dinner a couple hours later I was so voracious!

I typically fast until dinner (~20 hour fast) but I usually eat a very large meal post-workout and sometimes a smaller meal afterward. I guess I'm usually eating for around an hour for my first meal; I don't try to shove it all down at once. I eat a bowlful, fix the next bowl, eat, and repeat until I'm full. On rest days I might eat only one meal but it is intentionally smaller than normal.

              who is they?

i can eat one meal a day and be just fine. i usually only eat in a fairly small eating window (5-10PM) that fits with my work schedule...and there are plenty of times when i only eat once. however, i like eating twice so i can spread out my nutrient intake. it's difficult to get everything you need--particularly in protein requirements--in one sitting.
from a personal experience, i can tell you that i find i have much more energy eating during that window than trying to pack that much food into one meal and wanting to throw up. obey your hunger; your body knows what it wants.

I've tried one meal a day at times and found it hard to get enough protein in one setting. From there, I moved to two meals in the evenings but I found that it really wasn't practical having to eat twice most evenings. These days, I use the lean gains approach with an eight our feeding window and usually two meals. One meal is possible, but especially being a big guy you'll need to get a lot of food down and that's just not always practical. Your mileage may vary though of course.

Once in a while I only eat one meal in a day - but I think it would be hard to do it multiple days in a row. I follow the 'eat when I'm hungry' meal plan.

I have been eating one meal a day for several months. I am happy to report they I am never hungry. Never. Eat your meal later in the day so you aren't all bogged down by it when you have to do things and eat until you are full. Make sure to include animal fat.

Don't feel like you have to stuff the food into yourself. Just stop eating when eating becomes work, not fun. If you are hungry before you eat the next day, just wait it out. Pretty soon, you won't ever be hungry.

I agree with this. The fact that I don't get hungry is kinda good and bad. Instead of getting the traditional clues like a grumbling stomach, I start getting anxious and irritated. This seems to happen more on the weekends if I try to lower my calories too much or make my fasts too long. I try to wait until I really get hungry on the weekends, but I start to feel anxious way before I get any other hunger cues, so I just eat.
