Yeah, the only thing that might beat out the egg yolk is a liver shake.

Anyhow its always fun seeing a 2+ year old thread revived. It's funny cause seeing Dr. Bork Bork's recent posts you can tell she is well past any unfounded fears of saturated fat

I make my own vanilla using vodka as a base, a friend does hers using rum. They would give just enough of an alcoholic 'kick' to make this a prime nog.

Well instead of the half pint of cream, maybe adding some vegetables would help

I think you're missing the entire point of egg nog. LOL.

          And thanks, Neckhammer!

ETA: laughing that this thread got resurrected almost exactly 2 years to the day.
          Happy St. Patricks!

            Funny old thread.

However, this super nog does have a lot of calories. So if you are trying to lose weight or if you have trouble maintaining, I'd make this a Holiday treat. Cream is AWESOME, but extremely calorie dense.

Meal replacement to be sure. Especially if you are IF'ing. Talk about a fat bomb!

lol! That is true. But if you work out often enough, the egg nog treat becomes a staple. But meh, if you did well on it, I shouldn't really say anything XD

"Super nog" is similar to Dr Peter Attia's "fat shake" that he eats in the morning for energy (and he's super thin in the waist).

"In a blender: 8 oz heavy whipping cream, 8 oz sugar-free almond milk; 25 gm sugar-free hydrolyzed whey protein, 2-3 frozen strawberries"
What I actually eat The Eating Academy | Peter Attia, M.D. The Eating Academy | Peter Attia, M.D.

Post workout I now either go for 1) a medium-done steak cooked in butter, with extra butter on top, or 2) a egg/cream fat shake (if on the go). BTW I don't really understand the "no fat after workout" rule. Fat is the energy, if I don't eat fat I die.

My super nog contains a half pint of heavy whipping cream, 6 eggs, vanilla, and nutmeg. A few days ago, I asked on here if HWC was a good choice for fats, and the general consensus was "Yum, go for it!", but I got knocked down on this other forum for mentioning it b/c it's loaded with saturated fat.
Is my super nog bad? I thought it was the perfect post-workout snack/meal with all of its protein, virtually nonexistent carbs, and delicious fat.
You have over 4,000 posts and are asking if saturated fat is bad? You now it's not... sounds like that other forum needs a lesson from you. That nog sounds awesome... what do you eat the rest of the day?

Oh... haha! Didn't realize this thread was two years old... lol. I was like "what Dr. Bork Bork?!!" lol

LOL. Always check OP date! I haven't had some super nog in a while, but mmmm... it's calling! I have access to grass fed heavy cream and pastured eggs now. Might have to splurge soon.

Talking about chowing-down on fat never gets old.

Today I modified my "fat shake"; experimented with 50g coconut oil (instead of 200g heavy cream) + 6 raw eggs. Drank 1/2 pre-workout, 1/2 post. Actually this seemed to work better for me than cream. The coconut oil gave a rush of energy, and not such a heavy feeling. Post workout it felt very fortifying and energizing. Plus it's sort of "tropical-eggy" which is weirdly tasty.

Next going to try coconut milk...but being based in NE Asia need to go on a special mission to the foreign foods market.

Most cream is ultra high temperature pasteurized, not paleo/primal after that.
                            Product changed/damaged.
Companies are doing that to increase shelf life for distribution logistics. Doesn't even need to be refrigerated.

Fortunately a couple of stores near me carry Kalona cream. Grass-fed, low-temp pasteurized, and just fantastic stuff.

Kalona Supernatural is bad ads! Currently my #1 choice when it comes to heavy cream. #2 is Strauss Family Creamery. I wish Kalona wasn't $8 per bottle though. If I had the option, I'd drink it by the gallon. SO DELICIOUS!
