  • Fatty or lean meats? too much meat?

I belive cutting out refined carbs, grains ect. is good, but I feel like eating so much fatty meat is no good. I've heard time and time again that red meat is bad for you, can give you cancer, ect....and honestly the constipation doesnt feel grreat either no matter how much fiber i get.

I'm thinking about eating more lean meats just for the protein and getting my fats from nuts, like macadamia nuts, or avacados, and being really generous with butter/coconut oil...

...but on the other hand i can't deny there's something "primal" about ground beef patties and a how juicy and fatty and delicious they are

So what do you guys think....

    Lean meats/chicken/fish
    Ton of veggies
fats from nuts/avocados/some butter n oil?
    eggs

    OR

    Fatty meats (ground beef)
    Ton of veggies
    eggs

I can't afford grass-fed all the time so assume i'm talking about supermarket beef

how much meat do you guys actually eat? DO you got for fatty or lean cuts?

Option 1 sounds a little better to me honestly, but again last night I had half a pound of ground beef cooked as patties in butter with onions, mushrooms and jalapeno pepers mixed in the meat. All that was eaten on top of a salad and it was f*cking delicous.....

I'm gonna start fasting everyday again, just eating dinner most days of the week, so it shouldn't be so much of an issue anymore...but i keep hearing from my familly and everywhere else that too much meat is bad for you....reading this site; Mark seems to opt for leaner meats in smaller amounts, while everyone at "cavemanforum.com" and Dr. Kurt at Panu seems to eat exclusivly fatty meat.

i can't stand conflicting views....and cancer and heart disease scare me lol...

Buy good quality fatty meat and there's no worries, the only problems with meat can arise with low meat and the toxins that *can* concentrate in the fatty tissues.

The meat = cancer thing has been debunked many many times, although it is hard to get over the brainwashing that meat is evil, I think we all still have vestiges of that brainwashing left over from time to time.

Personally, I would recommend option 1.8ish.

Getting leaner meats and adding in good fats (grass fed tallow and butter or coconut oil) can be a good option if you're eating completely conventional, but at the same time, I'm not too scared of fatty conventional beef.

Whatever you end up doing, I recommend trying to stay away from a ton of poultry, especially dark meat, due to the levels of n-6.

ETA: I eat anywhere from 1-3 pounds of animal flesh/organs a day depending upon how hungry I am.

Agreed. I eat mostly eggs, veggies, and meat. Also butter and coconut oil, sometimes some nuts. No problems with constipation or anythign either, btw.

Except macadamia nuts. They would be more appropriate if you felt you really "needed" to have some nuts to snack on.

True, FF. Those things are expensive though!

Which is exactly why they don't appear in my diet. If I can get four to six times as much grass fed beef for the same price, it's no contest.

For serious! I think I need to keep more "meat snacks" around the house though, since I just keep reaching for the nuts anyway. I should do a better job practicing what I preach
