  • Is Coconut Milk Dairy?

I want to cut out dairy from my diet and am struggling with coffee.... love it, hate it black. So either I drink black coffee or give up coffee..... I was reading through some things and it appears that some people when they cut out dairy use Coconut Milk! So I wanted to make sure that coconut wasn't considered "dairy" so I could start using it in my coffee!

    Thanks all!

No; it's not dairy. Enjoy with reckless abandon!

People find success in giving up dairy because they have reactions to lactose and/or casein proteins. Coconut milk contains neither, so it's fine.

You could also try unsweetened almond milk. Even better if you make your own.

Coconut oil + cinnamon also makes for a good coffee (i can't stand black either).

I find it totally depends on the brand of coconut milk I use whether its wonderful or undrinkable. Some are too grainy, some too thin, some have a weird metallic aftertaste (all with no "bad" ingredients beyond guar gum which is ok). All in all, I am off coconut milk in coffee - and so no coffee 'til I reintroduce dairy in 3 weeks. mIt will be the first thing I try a bit of when I am done with whole30, and it will be cream in my coffee. Wonder if it will live up to expectations?

I switched from goats milk to coconut milk. The two best coconut milk I've found is tropical traditions and WFM 365 organic. DH has bought some junk coconut milk at the international market - he'll never do that again!
Check out this recipe for primal coconut creamer - its awesome.. I put it on berries, hot warm apples & cinnamon, and in my coffee.. I call it coconut crack creamer!
