  • The most annoying question you get from CW folks?

For me, it's "But what about when you go back to eating normally?"

First of all, for me, this IS eating normally.

Secondly, who says I'd go back to eating the way they do? They all think this way of eating is temporary, for weight-loss only. It's the one thing I *really* wish I could get across to them: this is permanent. None of them believe it's doable.

    Gah!

What's the most annoying question you get from CW folks?
Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

"Don't you know that cavemen died really young?" They forget the fact that modern medicine is one of the reasons for an increase in our life spans.

From my environmental friends: "How will we feed everyone sustainably?" Fortunately, I have some decent comebacks!

The most annoying one I've gotten in the 10 months I've been primal was from my ignoramus brother:

"How's your all meat diet going"?

One, it peeves me when this WOE is perceived as a DIET. Second, this is how my 44 year old brother understood my moms' explanation to him that I'm not eating grains. My mom told me later she told him I ate meat, vegetables, fruit, and he latched onto "Oh, Angie ONLY eats meat now -- what a weirdo!"

**Many of you know from yesterday's thread that I haven't gotten too revealing with how I eat except with family and a few of my closet friends. Amongst those friends who know, the most annoying was "You do know Atkins is not sustainable over the long run".... WTH? This from a very fat friend.

"Don't you know it's not healthy to skip meals?"

"Why won't you have some? It's whole wheat!"

The best part of it is that these types of questions come from people who I haven't seen in a while (the people that I see regularly know what I'm up to), and they usually start by commenting on how good/fit I look since the last time they saw me. Then they ask how I did it. THEN they question whether or not it works. Their logic is lost on me.

The answer to that one, sadly, is "We can't." I've been having an argument with a CW/vegan troll on Mark's blog post about the Vegetarian Myth, actually...

To me the most annoying thing is the weird looks I get from people when cooking or eating my lunch. Sometimes with the question "what is that you're eating?".

And it can get really annoying going into arguments about diet on forums so I do my best to stay away from them (the arguments, that is).

My most recent was, "Aren't you worried about your cholesterol?"

Or similarly "All that meat can't be good for your heart."

I can't wait til we're all in our 70's, 80's and 90's and saying "SEE! I TOLD YOU SO!"

Yep. While I think we can do a lot better switching to rotated pasturing from growing grain for feed, the fact remains that we do actually have too many people on the planet right now. We need some negative population growth, too.

The most annoying to me is when I mention fat is the immediate "oh good fats." Like they know what that is. They're just regurgitating what they hear in the media of this thing called "good fats." I hear this every time I mention eating fats.

People who I occasionally eat with don't really notice how I'm eating. They see meat, veggies and a salad. But my friends who know what I'm doing, they'll say "Oooh, don't you want some of this" as they're shoveling desert in their mouth. Or they'll say "just try a little bit, it won't kill you". But later they tell me that they can see that I'm losing weight.
