  • bedtime snacks?

Im just trying to get some ideas, what do you guys have for a bedtime snack (if anything)
Is it better to include carbs, or just fat and protein?

I just have a handful of almonds or a boiled egg, if anything. I don't know if that's "good" or not, but it doesn't seem to effect the quality of sleep.

hrm... well the only time I have a "bedtime snack" is if I'm comin' of a really long IF... and then I eat lots and lots of fat smothered meat!

The pp are right though, if you're snacking, you're not eating filling/nourishing enough meals. Or you're emotional eating and in that case... welcome to the club! lol I just set a rule, no eating after dinner. Period. End of story.

A handful of nuts if I need a snack. Usually after my tap class I do.
Sometimes I'll mix up a protein shake with coconut milk if I am really hungry

Sometimes I need a snack, sometimes I dont.

Honestly, I dont get the disdain. I eat dinner until I am satisfied. I'm not going to stuff myself to the point of nausea just IN CASE I might get hungry later if I dont. Especially if I have something active planned for the evening Sometimes it wasnt enough for that particular day. Sometimes dinner is early and I am up super late.

I find protein and/or protein and a small amount of fat does not disturb my sleep. The carbs in nuts dont bother me, but probably something without the f& p to balance it would.

If you are new to primal eating you may just need to get used to eating less meals. I am just two weeks into this and the first few days I didn't know how I would get by on 2-3 meals a day when I was used to eating snacks in between meals. After a few days or so I wasn't hungry anymore and didn't need snacks. Eating small frequent meals is CW thinking ... eat bigger meals with more fat and more meat and you probably won't need anymore snacks. I would say if you need a snack at night you aren't eating enough.

By the way, my bedtime snack used to be berries & cream (which was a great alternative to half a jar of nut butter.. )- but after cutting out sugar & upping fat, my nightly fruit cravings have completely disappeared. During this time, I ate as much fat & veggies & meat as I wanted, w/o regard to anything. Now I'm back to my two meals a day and I am not hungry until 3pm!
