  • You'll not believe where I saw Nutiva Coconut oil today....

Wal-Mart. Hadn't been in one in a long time but heard their grocery offerings had improved so wanted to check it out. Didn't see much difference, except a sizeable area (two shelves) filled with Nutivia coconut oil and a couple of other brands I've seen at Whole Foods. I found it very interesting...and they were mostly out. Lord knows the corn-fed people here in the mid-west need all the help they can get.

What section of the store did you find it in... is it in with the other cooking oils? Is the price comparable to online? Thanks!

It was in the baking supplies aisle. I've been buying mine through Amazon and Wal-Marts price were maybe 20% cheaper.

Good deal... thanks for the info! I'll look for it on my next trip, although my wal-mart doesn't always carry what the others do.

There are lots of us on this forum who do not live in the US...is that where you are, mikebike? It sure would be nice if they'd sell it here in Canadian Wal-Mart stores.

Dammit. Whereas I on the other hand went specifically to a more distant, fancier WalMart over the weekend, only to find some crap variety of coconut milk with multiple additives, instead of Thai Kitchen. I got the last two cans at my closer, grungier WM last week, and fervently hope they are not going to switch to the new crumbo kind. Grrrr.

I bought it at my Walmart on Sunday. It was where all the corn oils were except they had a specialty oils section. It was $7.32.

I bet it depends on where you live... I doubt my Walmart would carry it, but worth checking. Thanks! Is this a coconut oil that is pretty neutral tasting? I have the spectrum coconut oil and wondering if nutivia is more neutral tasting.

I haven't tried the Nutiva brand, but it gets rave reviews everywhere I've seen it (amazon, iherb, etc). It also appears to be one of the more economical brands of extra-virgin coconut oil.

I think Nutiva has more coconut flavor- it's delicious and I much prefer it over Spectrum. But if you prefer a neutral taste, then you may be happier with Spectrum. Even the texture of Nutiva is better. We use it for cooking, and body, etc..

Actually, I'm just south in Florence, KY....it's always easier for people out of the area to say Cincinnati.
